Andrew Cuomo: Force Corporations To Pass Tax Savings To Workers
FinkelBlog ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Democrats don’t trust free markets, preferring to use the power of government to control the economy. And they don’t understand basic laws of supply and demand. Appearing on CNN this morning, New York Governor Andrew Cuomo gave a good illustration of that distrust and ignorance.

Cuomo kvetched about the reduction in the corporate tax rate contained in the tax bill. He claimed that the bill wound up being a benefit to the rich corporations, and that:

“[Republicans] hope the rich corporations will then give it to the workers as a matter of their largesse. But if they actually wanted to raise wages for workers, they would have said in the bill, the corporation’s going to get a tax cut, but they must give it to the workers.”

The corporate taxes are paid by the owners through lower dividends and stock values, customers through higher prices and employees through lower pay. When those taxes are lowered I would expect all three to benefit as determined by the free market. I see no reason why one should benefit as a matter of law over the other two.

I’d rather require congresscritters to pay for any deficit out of the confiscation of their assets and wages.

Some companies ARE passing on their savings from the tax cut to the workers. I guess the governor hasn’t seen any news over the past week.

Hopefully many “RICH” corporations will use this money to depart the overtaxed state of New Jersey.

Well said.

But statist Dems like Cuomo would prefer to use the power of government to move the pieces on the economic chessboard in accordance with their “wisdom.”

That inevitability makes things worse for almost everyone—except, perhaps, for some politicians.

The way to get the money to US citizens is EVerify. Add to that, cut down on H1B Visas. Tariffs for goods coming into the country that benefitted from cheap foreign labor. None of that happened. The supply and demand curve for labor would restored, and US workers wouldn’t have to suffer from unfair competition that unfairly benefits corporations.

Why would corporations want to give their tax savings to their employees. That is not done. Did employees see any goodies when they took away the pensions? Nope. Did they see any money when they took away health care? Nope. Corporations will keep the money for themselves. Oh I guess the 1,000 dollar bonus will use up a 1/2 percent of their savings or so.

Corporations only pay 9% of all federal tax receipts. Another 9% is from misc. fees and duties. The remaining 82% is collected from individuals and employers through payroll and direct taxation.

Cuomo is just another idiot marxist.
