WashPost: Nunes Working on FBI Corruption Report

House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes and other Republicans are considering writing a report next year alleging corruption at the FBI, The Washington Post has reported.

Such a report would focus on the conduct of FBI officials during the probe into Russia’s meddling in last year’s American presidential election, according to people familiar with the plans.

This comes as President Donald Trump and his supporters in Congress have intensified their attacks on the FBI, which is seen by many as a way to try and discredit special counsel Robert Mueller, the former leader of the bureau, and bring into doubt any findings he may come up with in the Russia election meddling investigation should they be damaging to the Trump administration.

Rep. Adam Schiff, who is the ranking Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, explained the GOP plan to CNN’s “State of the Union.”

The Republicans’ “intent here is not to do oversight,” Schiff said. “The intent here is nothing short of discrediting Mueller, then discrediting the Justice Department, then discrediting the FBI, then discrediting the judiciary, should the judiciary convict some of the people that Mueller has charged or may charge in the future," adding that the GOP criticisms are "an effort to tear at the very idea that there is an objective truth."

I think that this coming year is going to see winning as it has NEVER been seen before.

People are going to jail! This is the biggest political scandal in US history, and the wages of this sin will be death. There are going to be lots of suicides on this baby....

The media is obviously much more interested in getting us to believe in the OIG report, but this is the one I'm interested in. And Nunes has been talking about it for a while now...

The DOJ IG report will confirm this corruption. Nunes is putting pressure on the IG to release the report sooner rather than later by leaking that his committee will write their own report on FBI corruption.

My bet is that the Nunes report will be more damning than the DOJ’s internal OIG report, proving that the DOJ can’t be trusted to investigate itself. That would hopefully then lead to a special counsel with prosecutory powers to investigate the DOJ, or Sessions firing if he refused to appoint it.

The Democrats are suddenly defenders of objective truth?--who knew?--ROFL! So much for their support of moral relativism, political correctness, legal deconstruction, judicial activism, secularism, feminism, abortion, gay rights, opposition to white privilege, the moral equivalence of Islam--wow, they're really going to need a new platform now that they suddenly care about objective truth!

All I would say to Schiff is is this some political witch hunt that they’ve cooked up, then it should be discredited 24/7. Put up or shut up.

“House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes and other Republicans are considering writing a report next year....”

Whoa! Step the feck BACK!

They’ve actually advanced to CONSIDERING!

And, they will even be doing this NEXT year! WHY SO SOON? What is the friggin’ rush?

But PLEASE, PLEASE...whatever you do...do NOT write a report.

That’s just SO beyond the pale of reason.

It likely means it’s already been written, just ready to print and sign if IG doesn’t shoot straight with their report.

Representative Schiff,, please list one verifiable fact, a truth, of any Trump Campaign official colluding with Russia to illegally impact the election.

Just one fact, Mr. Schiff.

I agree that no matter how well-intentioned IG reports are in terms of disclosing corruption and misdeeds, it is still an internal investigation and the tendency is to protect the institution.

The question is what is the best way to get the facts out and prosecute criminal behavior. The nation's experience with special counsels and independent prosecutors is not a good one. I can recite chapter and verse the history of such efforts. If we go that route, the guardrails on such an investigation must be clearly defined and written. And there may need to be some deadlines set so as not to drag these investigations on for years.

I know a few people that didn’t much one way or the other about politics but Adam Schiff and the democrats have changed that. They’re now supporting Trump. Democrats would do themselves a favor by dumping Schiff.
