Here we go again with the deceitful media cross-dressing illegal immigrants with legal immigrants. Then they paint our President as anti immigrant.

Several factors causing the general population to hate the Ivy League:
* it teaches its students to hate the average, working class and middle class person as inferior and stupid
* it actively discriminates against working and middle class families
* for the few from that group it accepts, you must meet multiple demographic checkboxes, and it gives preference to THOSE if you espouse the liberal hate of the nation; black kid who wants to join BLM preferred over the one who wants to be an investment banker
* Students who are the most privileged in the world (income or gifted scholarships) complain they are oppressed by general society; the ingratitude grates
* after graduating with the credential associated with the elite, they discriminate against others without the credential, including in admissions to schools, top law firms, the judiciary, academic posts ... they perpetuate the class privilege while ignoring how unfair it is

A group of African American college students was complaining about how immigrant blacks and first generation children of African and Caribbean blacks were dominating Ivy League. The schools used them to fill the black quota and immigrant (victim) status checklists. Not one mention about how those blacks tend to come from married families that value academics over grievance politics.

Infrastructure makes a country. Cameroon does not have this. If this family wanted to do anything for the country they would need to fight the corruption, fight the class, tribal stratification and work with the close to non-existent infrastructure.

They could have made a small win, but it would be a small win

if you talk about applying their passions and skills to reforming Cameroon, imagine saying the same to a Californian, only the Cameroonian has it a lot worse

So, they took the easy way out and came to improve themselves and their host country, the USA. They sound not only grateful but also productive members of society. In contrast there are lots of non-productive, ungrateful people whose ancestors came to the US 200 years ago and they're white.

Re: “Infrastructure makes a country.”

You forgot the first step - people build the infrastructure.

Then - people make the country.

Re: “If this family wanted to do anything for the country they would need to fight the corruption, fight the class, tribal stratification and work with the close to non-existent infrastructure.”

Yes. I agree.

Re: “Californians”

Once again, I agree. But you missed the obvious point.

When disgruntled Californians move to Portland, OR (where I used to live) and Seattle (where I live now), they go to the polls and elect the exact same kind of candidates who destroyed California in the first place!

Basic Political Reality - new immigrant citizens vote 80% for the Democrat Party.

If the GOP loses the House and/or Senate in 2018, or if Trump is defeated in 2020, it will be because of high voter turn out by foreign born citizens.

Re: “In contrast there are lots of non-productive, ungrateful people whose ancestors came to the US 200 years ago and they're white.”

My point was that the three daughters most likely received their Ivy League scholarships because of their skin color.

If they had test scores that exceeded Asian or White test scores, you can be certain that the New York Times would have boasted about that.

Also, in case you don't know, elite American universities fill a significant percentage of their ethnic quotas by accepting foreign Black and Hispanic students who have higher test scores than American Black and Hispanic students.

from my interaction with various immigrants, the reason for that is that the media portrays Republicans as racist folks who want even legal immigrants out.
