You are so correct! This is ridiculous, and it makes me think of the Taliban blowing up centuries-old statues in Afghanistan. Should we destroy the concentration camp remnants in Europe, or is it a good thing for people to be able to visit them and reflect on the horrors that happened there? We shouldn't run from our past. We should learn from it.

As a life long Memphian, I can say this:
December 20, 2017 - the night racism ended in Memphis. The biggest impedimen to progress and racial harmony, those statues, are gone. I don’t ever want to hear about racism in Memphis ever again. The cause for it has been erased from sight. One other thing, since they’ve been erased from memory, then slavery never existed. There are no reminders of that institution.
