President Trump said Sunday that Sen. John McCain, who is battling brain cancer, would return to vote for tax reform this week if needed to pass the bill, though the senator’s office later forecasted a January return to Washington.
Mr. McCain had been undergoing treatment for a viral infection at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center near Washington but Sunday returned to Arizona to spend Christmas with his family, according to the senator’s office.
Mr. Trump said he had spoken with Mr. McCain’s wife, Cindy, and that the senator would be available for the vote, which is expected as soon as Wednesday.
“I wished her well. I wish John well,” Mr. Trump told reporters at the White House. “They’ve headed back [to Arizona]. But I understand he’ll come if we ever needed his vote, which hopefully we won’t.”
Senate Republicans have a thin 52-seat majority but the leaders believe they have enough votes to pass the tax overhaul without the Arizona Republican.
“But the word is John will come back if we need his vote,” Mr. Trump said. It’s too bad. He’s going through very tough time, there’s no question about it. But he will come back if we need his vote.”

President Trump is so focused on achievement he can put squabbles aside. Can easily see him flying AF1 overnight to grab McLame, bring him to DC, and fly him back to AZ were it required.
A Senator must be in the Chamber to vote.
McCain may never leave Arizona.
I shall go do some penance for that.
I would be very surprised if McCain can or wants to return to DC for that vote.

Everyone knows you can’t get care for this condition in the DC area. Fishy; as is anything with McCain.

He looks horrible. Thats not from the cancer either, it’s the chemotherapy. That stuff is poison and destroys you quicker than the cancer will. Yet doctors dole that stuff out like candy. I am convinced that is the next big scandal, the cancer industry. Its a big money maker and I think a lot of people have gone through more than they had to. Oncology is a racket.

Seems odd to me. It makes me a bit nervous Trump saw the need to line this up if needed. With the vote 2 days away shouldn’t this be more certain?

I agree as I have been reading a lot lately about this.
When a relative turned down chemo and radiation the doctors turned cold and distant and pretty much said there was nothing more they could do.
