A man was killed early Thursday after a single-vehicle crash on 101st Airborne Division Parkway.

According to Clarksville Police, the 37-year-old man was driving east on the parkway at a high rate of speed when his Kia Optima left the right side of the roadway and hit a rock embankment. The car flipped several times and ejected the driver.

He was taken by LifeFlight to Vanderbilt University Medical Center where he died from his injuries.

No one else was in the vehicle.

The wreck happened at about 4:30 a.m.

It is unknown why his vehicle left the road. His name will be released after his family is notified.

The wreck marks the 12th fatality in city limits for 2017.

There have been 16 in Montgomery County outside city limits so far this year.
