Was crossing from Sweden to Kiel on a ferry at night. There was a full moon when a German submarine appears with its iron cross on the conning tower. Chilling.

This is a good thing as they did a lot of damage with subs in WW1 and WW2.

If you look at the losses they suffered during WW2, you would not expect much legacy knowledge to have been passed down in their Navy.
