There seems to be a culture in the current police departments that they can do no wrong. That leads to the idea that crossing the line is ok because you are "the good guy" and so what you do is justified.
Right now I am having to help a former neighbor who is having to deal with a "school safety officer" who is trying to cover up a series of mis-steps. Do I think that he is outright corrupt? Probably not. But his desire to coverup an act of pure laziness is making their life a nightmare.
I don't know when police culture made a wrong turn. But something is seriously wrong with the system.
Honestly the outright “bad cops” don’t worry me nearly as much as the rest.
