Yes, Comcast might slow down or charge more for Netflix so Comcast’s TV service gets priority and is cheaper.

That means there is a business opportunity to offer internet that supports Netflix.

Someone else could offer internet service without any streaming at all. There are people who just want email and Facebook, nothing else. A very low cost service would be perfect for them.

Open markets breed competition and innovative solutions. That is why our healthcare system works the same way as it did in the 1970s....because government control and regulations have forced it to stagnate and not innovate in the way it operates.

My long time friend is a top security expert for the SEC in washington DC,

Here are his comments about NET NEUTRALITY:

The Internet is like the roads. Anyone can drive and go everywhere equally. Remove neutrality, and all local roads become private, with the owner (ISP) charging you more if you drive to a business THEY DON'T OWN. Without neutrality, the Internet becomes a Company Town.

This is not good for regular people. Fantastic for Comcast, Verizon, and the like. They've just been given permission to set up unlimited toll booths and control the speed limits to everywhere.

Want to go to the movies? The Comcast theater is here for $10. No? You want to go to the Netflix theater? That costs extra to leave the plantation.

>> The Internet is like the roads.

And what about the toll booths, EZ Pass, fuel tax, infrastructure tax?

The Internet is not like the roads. Poor analogy.

Very good arguments. It’s the same line of reasoning to use against those from states like New York or California who object to losing the ability to deduct their state taxes in the new tax law.

In reality, this piece of code helps to shield those states from the consequences of their high tax rates. Should the residents of those states have to feel the full brunt of those burdensome taxes, there will be a reaction; it could cause an exodus from the state - which will make the state lose revenue. Will the state continue to raise rates? Time will tell. But letting the Federal tax system be a buffer is not the answer.

Bad argument. The internet is NOT like the roads. It’s extremely decentralized. If one path is blocked, your packet takes another.

Bad, bad, bad simile.

My long time friend has been right better than 90% of the time in what was REALLY happening and how it would affect the INDIVIDUAL user..

You can dismiss the analogy because you don't agree with it.. but, it doesn't change the fact that removing net neutrality favors the big corps CONTROL and will, in the end, COST the little guy.

How do my neighbors pay for my internet connection? I pay for the highest level that uVerse sells.

Everything on the internet worked fine before 2015, until Obama decided that Washington DC needed to get its mitts on it.

So why are you so rah rah about an Obama initiative?

Good Lord.

And REMOVING net neutrality means the Comcast type companies can now control the routes and costs that those packets travel.

Wow, it's absolutely amazing to see people on Free Republic who want un-fireable, un-electable Washington DC bureaucrats at the FCC controlling the internet and eventually wielding power over what we'll be able to do on it.

Sad!

OK VideoDoctor, enjoy your Net Neutrality. God help us.

I DIDN't say I was "FOR or AGAINST" anything.

I simply shared the COMMENTS my long time friend who is an Internet security expert at a very high level stated to me.

By the way he has three children at home who all USE the Internet daily.

He perceives removing net neutrality will result in costing individual users financially MORE to use and negotiate the Internet.

Yeah right. Put the government in control good plan.

Lets see, how many government programs are working as planned.

Hell, they lost money running cafeteria and a whore house in Nevada.

Apparently about 65% or 70% of the bot mail supported Pai.
About 30% or 35% supported Net Neutrality.
Did anyone at the FCC check IP address and other data to find out where they came from? We have no way of knowing the facts yet.

Nice comeback. I’ve always noticed that, whenever people resort to disgusting insults, they’ve run out of ideas.

All I can say in reply is, thank goodness the Trump administration is ignoring you...

I’m not being dismissive as if to deny facts. But you seem to be adopting your friend’s opinion.

Roadways are physically necessary for an itinerant society — something that certainly precedes recorded history.

The inventions & investments corps produce and the consumer demands are not public property. Your taxes are not paying the cost of advances in technology. And doubtful you ever intended to invest in such technologies.

Socialism is a very, very bad thing. Avoid it.

"I’m not in favor of treating ISPs as utilities circa 1930, but when I pay for Internet service, I expect the best possible unfiltered access to whichever site I access. "

IF that is the guarantee or service level agreement in the contract you signed...
