From our own DHS and quite timely don't you think.....don't panic, DHS is on top of things. This not only needs to stop, it needs to be put in reverse.

Chain migration should make up 0% of immigration. Judge individuals as individuals, not as relatives. Invite those who benefit the United States as a whole and who also benefit working Americans. No one else. No “diversity lottery”. No “chain migration” no illegals, not even innocent dreamers whose parents brought them. This is our country and should be run under the rule of law and in the interests of the American people. No exceptions.

Translated: For every legal immigrant, there are 2.5 additional family members coming over the border.

If we allow 2 million immigrants per year, we are actually allowing 2 + 5 or 7 million immigrants per year.

In five years, that’s 35 million people, more than 1/10th of our population. But then there are four other years in there, whose immigration numbers are at varying stages in the process and should be added to it.

The numbers are staggering.

I believe this third line in my post evidenced double counting, so I need to withdraw it.

35 million is still a very big number for five years, but that too is a mistaken number. We actually allow only half that per year, so the numbers I worked up should be cut in half.

In five years, we allow in about 17.5 million total, not 35 million.

Further, we only allow half that 35 million in over five years (not per year as accidentally stated in my last post). LOL Ouch! I love taking myself to task...

I don’t see how a person can be here illegally and yet their family etc can come in legally?

Here is a thought:

If one in the chain commits a terrorist act, then all in the chain are deported.

Chain migration equals chain employment as well. I’ve seen it. I know other FReepers have seen it too. One is employed to work, and next thing you know the whole damned family is on the payroll, and they run the business by either sandbagging, or no show, flu, whatever.

I don’t know how many employers I’ve heard griping about the cussed “_________ Army”, and how to get back control of their businesses.

The same has happened in biomedical research. The study sections that review grants are often a mafia of those who fund each other. It's unfair, and disheartening, at best.

Illegals cannot bring relatives legally. Most legal immigrants can start the chain after they become a citizen. There are probably special rules for refugees, which was an Obama specialty. Today’s bomber was only a few months under 21 when he came (according to a radio report). Over 21 and he would have been Ineligible. Maybe age is flexible in some countries.

Trump can order that all applications be reviewed before processing then not review them. He can also order a hiring freeze for those doing the work; just let the bureaucracy wither on the vine.

Chain migration should be limited to husband/wife, and minor children. Nothing else. Only sponserable within one year of you getting your citizenship. (Family moving together.)
