Why the ‘Arab street’ didn’t just explode

Book publishing has changed. You can buy a hundred books for very little money. And you gain the satisfaction of achievement. I think the FR community is perfect for book publishing. Some things to consider:

Why not preview chapters of your book by posting them on FR and asking people to comment? The comments you receive could be very illuminating and guide the book's development -- and give you encouragement!
With the people you know in the field, sit down around a table and audio record your discussion on the topic. The mind works best when it's in free, conversational mode. This is what I do in writing a market research report, I try to wind people up with a few interesting questions and get them to talk freely. Somebody needs to do that for you.
I'll bet there are hundreds of FReepers who are authors of books. So their advice on positioning and marketing the book could be invaluable. You can also find people here who would help you edit your book.
I think your topic is fresh enough. The average conservative has no in-depth knowledge of what's really going on the Middle East.
