A woman who live-streamed herself and a trio of friends abusing a mentally disabled man and taunting him with racial insults was sentenced to probation Friday after spending nearly a year behind bars.
Brittany Covington, 19, had been held at the Cook County Jail without bond since January, when she and co-defendants Tesfaye Cooper, Jordan Hill and her 24-year-old sister Tanishia Covington were arrested on kidnapping and hate-crime charges.
The plea deal prosecutors made with Brittany Covington makes her the first of the four to be released, though she will remain on probation for four years and is barred from contact with Cooper and Hill.
Brittany Covington narrated Facebook Live video of the others tormenting the 18-year-old white man in the West Side apartment she shared with her sister.
The victim, a Crystal Lake man who had been classmates with Hill at a west suburban alternative high school, appears terror-stricken as he was taunted with racially-tinged insults — including calling him a supporter of then-President-elect Donald Trump. Hill and Cooper allegedly cut his clothing with a knife, punched and kicked him. In one Facebook video, the man was forced to drink water from a toilet bowl.

Hate crimes only count when the perps are white. In fact, I believe the whole idea of “hate crime” was invented solely for the purpose of getting vengeance on white/straight people. There was no other purpose for it.

What do you think guys? I know the guy was an idiot and broke the law but we should get a petition going because this guy should not be doing anything near 15 years in prison. Guys get that for manslaughter and rape.
Or we can reach out to Trump and Congress to get rid of this ridiculous hate crime stuff.
And even if it helps us sometimes this being able to be tried at the federal level if you’re found innocent at the state level is absurd.
And while we’re at it LOL all the red light and speed cameras should be considered unconstitutional and done away with. That camera has no idea what you are doing and why you are doing it and I know many people and myself that have gone through yellow lights and gotten tickets.
I got hit in the back for slamming brakes at a yellow at a camera light. Now I have the GPS that shows where all the cameras are.
Might as well get as much as we can done while Trump is President :-)

Yes, the crime was vaguely and inaccurately described in the media, who were desperate to get the criminals off. It seems the courts have the same attitude.
And in Florida a man recently got 15 years for putting bacon in a mosque.
As I stated, our so-called “justice” system is a vice system now. They use the force of law to let psychopaths off and to punish people who think like a rational Christian. It is for their Marxist NWO where the insane and evil rule the sane. They let the mentally ill off in the 70s—and renamed them as “Good” (the sodomites and the baby-killers) so they could get into positions of power and force their vile, warped worldview on everyone else—particularly Christians-—to wipe them out of the allowed culture.
