Corvette--The Corvettes (on the Corvette label), 1958

The melody sounds a lot like Gee by the Crows (1953).

Six Days On The Road

(Dave Dudley cover by Tom Petty / Mudcrutch)

I remember listening to the original version of this tune late at night on the Charlie Douglas Road Gang (trucker radio show) on 870 AM. Mudcrutch does a good job with it here, though - and if you're inclined, there are live concert versions where Tom reminisces about playing this tune in his early club days in Gainesville. The live audio isn't as clear as the album version, though. Of further interest - when on stage with Mudcrutch, Petty switched from his usual six-string and played electric bass instead.

Bruce Springsteen -- Stolen Car

This one isn't about a car in particular, but Chevrolet made the greatest ad campaign out of it:

‘Drag City’ by Jan and Dean. Great cruisin’ song from 1963! Opening Lyrics: “Just tuned my car now she really peels/a lookin’ real tough with chrome reverse wheels/a blue coral wax job sure looks pretty/gonna get my chick and make it out to Drag City” What a time we had!
