300+ million people in this country and we can’t find 535 who can keep their hands to themselves and/or their damn zippers zipped?!
As they say, power corrupts. This is a good reason why the Founders were so opposed to a permanent ruling class.

What I said to a colleague just this morning.
Next thing you know, somebody will figure out that when you have thousands of young males and females thrown together away from home and in a tense situation, they act like young people away from home and in a tense situation, and do what young males and females have been doing since the Garden of Eden. (The first time I was warned about this had something to do with the Airman and the WAC behind the dumpsters at Lackland. Never saw of this, just heard about it.)

When it is the most corrupt people in a population who seek these positions because it is their only means to unimaginable wealth (they have no capability whatsoever to make it honestly)...then that is what you get.
Decent and moral people aren’t atttracted to congress. Which is a good thing. That means instead of playing power games, carousing, and refining their backstabbing skills, they’re doing something worthwhile.
Politics is a scam and we’re suckers for playing.
That’s the sorry thing - positions of such power and influence invariably draw some of society’s worst characters....folks like Reagan/Trump/Pence are the anomalies.
