There should be a basic intelligence test for voting, but it will never happen.

Sorry but you’re simply wrong. And the fact that it works for legislation is what proves you wrong. If the states shouldn’t have an equal voice in passing legislation (which is MUCH more important than picking a president) then they shouldn’t have an equal voice in anything.

Nope. You simply cannot justify how one State should be more important in who governs the Nation than another.

Sure you can. And you did by allowing it in Congress.

You just have to look at many jury decisions to know how misinformed the public is.

In any case, I don’t think there is a single western nation I know of that operates on pure vote system.

Funny that Democrats have no problem disenfranchising for instance Western California, or conservative parts of New York state. They like those winner take all states.

I would love for someone from Texas to speak on this. I have heard that Texas is becoming more liberal and Democrat. Never been there so I am left with own probably incorrect assumptions. Was watching some cake baking show set in Dallas and virtually all the Dallas people spoke with what I would call a “standard” US accent, not a Texas twang. Maybe me a little worried that Dallas was being swept into the progressive toilet.

As an outsider looking in the only thing that puzzles me is the power of federal courts. Maybe I am use to the virtual absolute power of a Prime Minister (as long as his party backs him) that it stuns me that Democrats can cherry pick a liberal federal court and put a stall on an Executive Order.

The purpose of the Framers' electoral system was to come up with a powerful chief executive who was not beholden to any faction, aka, political party.

The Framers' President.

"As an outsider looking in the only thing that puzzles me is the power of federal courts."

As a consequence of long-time federal government corruption, it is not possible to reverse-engineer the distinct, constitutionally express powers of the three branches of the feds based on the actions of the branches imo.

For example, during lawless Obama’s last term in office, corrupt Congress let lawless Obama get away with stealing and exercising state legislative powers in the form of constitutionally undefined executive orders.

By letting Obama get away with doing their dirty work for them, corrupt lawmakers were able to keep their voting records clean.

And by keeping their voting records clean, career lawmakers were able to fool low-information citizens into reelecting them.

In other words, Congress was able to eat its stolen cake and have it too.

Something like that.

Now the crooks running the still-corrupt legislative and judicial branches have circled their wagons to protect themselves from executive branch Trump, the legislative branch letting the judicial branch get away with obstructing Trump by effectively legislating anti-Trump “laws” from the bench imo.

After many years of observation,it occurs to me that the Electoral College, while not perfect, is still better than the known alternatives.
