House OKs GOP bill expanding gun owners' rights

Republicans rammed a bill through the House on Wednesday that would make it easier for gun owners to legally carry concealed weapons across state lines, the first significant action on guns in Congress since mass shootings in Nevada and Texas killed more than 80 people.

The House approved the bill, 231-198, largely along party lines. Six Democrats voted yes, while 14 Republicans voted no.

The measure would allow gun owners with a state-issued concealed-carry permit to carry a handgun in any state that allows concealed weapons. It now goes to the Senate.

Republicans said the reciprocity measure, a top priority of the National Rifle Association, would allow gun owners to travel freely between states without worrying about conflicting state laws or civil suits.

Opponents, mostly Democrats, said the bill could endanger public safety by overriding state laws that place strict limits on guns. …

Should have been:

Republicans voted for a bill to restore Second Amendment rights across the nation. Six Democrats joined in to respect the Constitution.

14 Republicans joined with most Democrats to prevent Americans form enjoying the rights to self defense across state lines.

Instead, the AP wrote:

“Republicans rammed a bill through the House on Wednesday that would make it easier for gun owners to legally carry concealed weapons across state lines, the first significant action on guns in Congress since mass shootings in Nevada and Texas killed more than 80 people.”

AP has been anti-Second Amendment for decades.

So nice that we have rulers that pretend to affirm our GOD GIVEN INALIENABLE CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHT. It’s ALL BS!

“Republicans rammed”.

Good grief. Could you commies just report on a story without jamming some agenda down the American people’s throats?

Name them then Cantorize them!

It’s time to apply zero tolerance to Congress instead of public schools.

You ask for the impossible. Jamming an agenda down the American people’s throat is their entire reason for existence, for becoming “journalists”, for advancing to where they are.

But will it die in the Senate like most other bills?

It will likely die in the senate. The civil rights of the peasantry are much less important than splitting up the goodies.

Politics is a scam and we’re suckers for playing.

It’s like saying “Republicans jammed a tax break for the rich through the house in the first significant action on taxes since Wesley Snipes was convicted of tax evasion”.

I hope this bill passes. Force the remaining holdout state leaders to explain to their constituents why all these out of state visitors are allowed to pack heat while they are denied the same human right as protected and enumerated in the Constitution.

AP has been anti-Second Amendment for decades.

As well as CBS, NBC, ABC, CNN, MSNBC, and the various Leftist waste-of-trees newspapers (e.g., The Washington Compost, and The New York Slimes).

Before we paint all the republican no voters with the same brush, might want to have a look at Rep. Tom Massie’s you tube comments.

https://youtu.be/IxfWmBHsdgg

Said he could not vote for the reciprocity bill if it was married to the fix-nics bill. It was, so he didn’t.
