My former SIL and my grandkids had to evacuate at 2AM yesterday in Venture. They said the flames were just yards away. I saw a picture of a house that I recognized that’s a little over a block away from his that was completely inflamed.he went back last night and was pleasantly surprised his house was still there. My daughter lives on the other side of town and was ready to evacuate all day yesterday but fortunately didn’t have too. She said the smoke was really bad.

My daughter and her family evacuated Monday night. They live in Ojai and my grandsons go to the Thacher School. The fire is nipping at the edges of the school.

I’m down in Anaheim at the moment, you can even smell it in on the air. This is mental, not as windy as it was yesterday so hopefully they can contain this.

Watching the live feed from KTLA, weather man just reviewed the winds for today.

They are forecast to increase as the day warms up.
West to East flow.

Stay safe!

Prayers for everyone out there. My daughter was going to take a few clothes, picture albums and legal documents, and the birds. At least she had time to think about it. My ex SIL had to just get out immediately. Was your daughter able to take a few things? Hope her home and the school are saved.

Santa Ana’s make going to the beach so nice this time of year. The scuba diving and surfing get spectacular but I hate these fires

My husband is at a conference (which was just cancelled) at the Luxe Bel Air just south of the Getty Center. The 405 is right next to them and closed NB. The hotel is concerned they may be evacuated. He said the entire time they have been there (since Monday) the smoke has been terrible. Most people have been wearing masks.

I hope the Getty Center is OK. The fire is across the 405 from it currently but that could change as we all know. It contains priceless art and artifacts that cannot be replaced. Let's hope they can save people's homes as well!

My daughter lives in Irvine, some 20 miles south-ish and they just have smoke. I’ve visited the Getty Center and it is amazing. Prayers for all in LA, Ventura, and SB counties.

They had time to gather some belongings. The firefighters have set up a command post on the campus and seem to be keeping the fire at bay. It’s an enormous place so we just have pray. Winds are supposed to pick up today and tomorrow.
She and her family are staying in Montecito ,a short distance from Santa Barbara, and my daughter said they can’t even smell smoke. Oprah lives in the area and has her own fire dept.

Causes?

Not even discussion or speculation of causes, on the news.

I’ll bet the arson investigators are going full bore, seeking witnesses, videos, etc. And keeping silent about it.

This isn’t the first time that the Getty has been endangered by fire. Maybe that wasn’t the best place to put something like that...

“said the entire time they have been there (since Monday) the smoke has been terrible. Most people have been wearing masks.”

Much schadenfreude about this what with California’s phobia about someone lighting up a cigarette 100 yards away. In a couple of days these fools have inhaled more second hand smoke than a lifetime in normal, well ventilated smoking bars.

They just had the Ventura fire department on tv, he says the fires still aren’t contained. I’d your daughter is close to Oprah then surely she’ll be safe. Hope her home is too.

The Getty Center seems to be out of the way of the fire, but several homes in Bel-Air have already burned and many more are threatened. Firefighters are mounting an impressive effort from the ground and the air to knock this fire down before the heavy winds kick up this afternoon.

We’re looking at the possibility of a major disaster in West Los Angeles. Please God, they can get this thing under control very soon.
