Some of the latest studies on dopamine indicate that drug addicts can damage the reward systems in their brains and create a state of permanent depression, while others link dopamine levels to obesity.Show where pot smoking permanently damages the dopamine system.
All you're describing is mental dependence. Addiction is a physiological process that accompanies mental dependence.
By your definition, chocolate is addictive because eating it causes the brain to produce dopamine.

Oh, and thanks for being such a sport and proving my point! You've only proven that you know nothing about drug addiction.
I know you know nothing about the effects of smoking pot.

“Gee, I guess California isnt nullifying federal law after all.”
Read the article.
Then read, for the first time, my post 303:
“How can that be? Simple. California did it knowing progressive Obama and his crew would not challenge the defiance. Obama was a drug user himself - in the past . . . wink, wink.
“Will California continue to get away with defying federal law? I don’t know for sure. Attorney General Sessions has made some noises but Trump has so many battles right now he may not want to wade into that fight with California, several other rebel states, and the Hollywood/fake news cartel.”

You have a basic misunderstanding od the dopamine system.
Adam Kepecs, a neuroscientist at Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory says that addiction has to do with the brain’s expectations. An emerging idea, he says, is that drugs basically “hijack” the brain’s normal computational enjoyment and reward mechanisms.
“Lets say youre happy about a great chocolate ice cream,” says Kepecs, as an example.”Over time you learn to expect that the chocolate ice cream is really great and you have no more dopamine released in expectation of that when you receive it. Whereas, if you take an addictive drug, you can never learn to expect it because the drug itself will release an extra kick of dopamine. And when that happens, the value of that drug keeps increasing because now youre learning that ‘Wow my expectations were violated, therefore this must be much more valuable than what I thought before.’ So basically what ends up happening: the dopamine system gets hijacked by these drugs.”

Sad that little Jeff has not read the constitution.
Fourth and tenth come to mind.
Time to kick this little guy to the curb.

As far as I know, as long as you are in your late 20’s, the effects of pot may be reversal with time. However the time you have lost never returns. You still after all are / were an addict for how long?

The cartels, the alcohol companies and pharmaceuticals all have a lot to lose if marijuana is legal.
Potheads and alkies tend to be two separate addicts so they aren't competing for the same market.
And who do you think will be selling top brand marijuana when it gets legalized nationally? Big Pharmi, that's who(or maybe Big Tobacco)
The cartels will be sorely hit, I'm sorry to say.
I'd sell them short.
Bigly.

My very liberal sister who has lived in Colorado for 20 years says that legalization caused a huge influx of homeless slackers into the state. Marijuana is a problem.Umm.... if it is attracting them, it means that pot is a massive problem-SOLVER for the states that the slackers are coming from.

Legalizing drugs no more leads to a nation of stoned people than the 21st Amendment led to a nation of alcoholics.
People will use drugs according to their own predilections irrespective of the legality.
Now, the 19th Amendment OTOH...

Sessions is a flaming asshole.
Sessions is the politician for whom his time has come and gone but is too dense to know it's over.
Like the grandfather who is still stuck in the reefer madness mode while his grandchildren are sneaking tokes behind his back and snickering at his ignorance.
The younger, "hip" conservative generation wants to target government malfeasance, not dope heads .

Legalizing drugs no more leads to a nation of stoned people than the 21st Amendment led to a nation of alcoholics. In this respect these so-called conservatives are no different from their liberal counterparts.
Both want to control different aspects of other peoples' lives.
