The drug war destroyed black neighborhoods. This Sacramento weed policy could help
Sacramento Bee ^ | November 27, 2017 | Erika D. Smith

With sales of recreational cannabis becoming legal in a few weeks, many Californians have been asking questions about where they’ll be able to buy it, where they’ll be able to smoke it and why on God’s green, weed-filled Earth they still have to use cash to get it.

Meanwhile, all I want to know is whether the black and brown people who sold cannabis during the dark years of the war on drugs, and went to prison for it in disproportionate numbers, will benefit from the newly legal, multibillion-dollar industry.

Or – and I shudder at the thought – will they become victims all over again, boxed out by wealthy, white investors who will invade low-income, minority neighborhoods to start businesses, jack up property values and hire outsiders?

Whitey is afraid to go into your neighborhood. You can sell all of the whacky tobaccee to the bros you want.

So, it’s not the drugs that destroyed black neighborhood, but the war on drugs! Wow!

What they really need are more liquor stores and gun stores. That’ll get their communities back up on their feet.

So this writer wants the drug dealing youth gangs, the ones who laid waste to big areas of major cities, to get their share of the legal marijuana trade.

Do these gangs really want to run a legitimate business? Do these gangs know how to run a business? If they fail in business will it be considered racist?

Welfare encouragement of single-motherhood destroyed black neighborhoods.

"So, it’s not the drugs that destroyed black neighborhood, but the war on drugs! Wow!"

Exactly, like it's a "given" that everyone uses drugs. The government is just making it too hard to get them, and that is hurting the neighborhood. What a load of garbage.

You might ask a broader question, whether or not the Soros Open Society, the US Chamber and Business Roundtable sponsored opinion formation, Madison Ave’s version of thought reform, fostering of elaborate concern about the plight of endless legions of foreign migrants, has any room for home born Blacks left off at the unemployment line. Where’s the Compassion for them?

Legalizing pot is racist.

Forced busing to end segregation in schools destroyed those neighborhoods, too. It disconnected families from one of the main social pillars of the community, and with their kids bused 20 miles away to a school they didn’t know, those families didn’t connect with the new school either. Meanwhile, the already cash-strapped inner city school had to foot the bill for the education and transportation of their kids elsewhere. So the first thing they cut was the extra-curricular programs that bind families to the community and give the kids something positive to do.

Combine that with the acid of single-mother welfare moms, and you wipe out a whole community. Good job, democrats. You made the blacks more dependent than when they were slaves. At least when they were slaves they longed to be free. Now they don’t know what freedom is.

Was it the war on drugs?

Was it the drugs themselves?

Was it the runaway fathers?

Was it the thug culture that celebrates how many time ya got shot and locked up in award winning industry promoted gangsta rap?

What about the war on drug territory? That’s the cause of most of the killings. Turf wars.
From what I’ve seen the price of legal pot in Colorado is very expensive. Out of reach of most in ‘the hood’.
Bet legalizing pot does nothing to reduce drug crime, turf wars, if that’s the goal.

Those drug dealers were the backbone of the black community until the evil whites ruined everything.

Erika D. Smith is working hard to accomplish the ‘genocide’ of ‘black and brown people’. She wants ‘low-income’ neighborhoods to be saturated with drugs so that there will no longer be any hope for those residents to escape.

Good job, Erika!

and hire outsiders

Even Iceberg Slim wrote in his book 'Pimp' about how you shouldn't have any hookers who smoke pot because they'd lay around home all day and not go to work.

The government is just making it too hard to get them, and that is hurting the neighborhood.

The government is giving violent criminals a monopoly on the drug trade by making it illegal, and that is hurting the neighborhood.
