Carly Fiorina Slams the Politicization of Sexual Assault

Carly Fiorina slammed the politicization of sexual assault on Fox News Sunday with Chris Wallace today. The former HP CEO and 2016 GOP presidential primary candidate called for institutional change, criticized both political parties, and even called out the former Fox News CEO Roger Ailes.

When asked why such sexual harassment occurs, Fiorina lamented the fact that in many circles it has been tantamount to an open secret.

“In virtually all of these cases, there has been corroboration of the womens' cases. In virtually every case, it's not one woman who comes forward. I think what we all need to think about particularly men need to think about is that people knew. People knew it was going. You can’t tell me no one knew it was going on with Roy Moore, or John Conyers, or Al Franken, or Charlie Rose, or Roger Ailes, or Howard Weinstein. (sic) I think the question going forward is, when are we going to stop tolerating this behavior and stop respecting the men who did it?" The long time host of Fox News Sunday asked Fiorina about the Democrats' problems with senior ranking Democrats Sen. Al Franken (D-MN) and Rep. John Conyers (D-MI).

“First of all this behavior goes on all the time. In politics, in the work place, in athletics. And when we politicize it…it’s not my team vs. your team. Republicans and Democrats alike are guilty of it," she told Wallace. As for the process of reporting sexual harassment in Congress, Fiorina highlighted the long and tedious process it takes to even accuse a member of Congress of sexual harassment.

"I tell you the most helpful thing would be for Congress to change its own process. If someone wants to come forward and allege harassment or abuse, they must go through a mandatory 30 days of counseling, mandatory mediation, led by a lawyer whose express purpose is to protect the institution, and then maybe if they are lucky, they get a secret settlement paid for by tax payers from the Treasury. That ought to change. That whole process is designed to protect politicians, democrats and Republicans, to protect the institution, and to make it next to impossible, for a woman, or in some cases a young boy page, to come forward. That ought to change, that would actually help.” Wallace opened the segment by asking about President Donald Trump's apparent support for Alabama GOP senate candidate Roy Moore, despite the numerous accounts of sexual impropriety charged at the candidate.

“Well that’s politics isn’t it, Chris? This is all about politics. And that’s why when politicians talk about (sexual harassment) they don’t have a lot of credibility. This has been going on in politics for a very long time. It’s a little bit like George Washington warned us 200 years ago, the problem with politics and political parties is they care about winning above all else. Donald Trump cares about a vote in the senate. No more, no less.” Sunday morning President Donald J. Trump seemed to confirm Fiorina's speculation that a large amount of his support for Moore is for a vote in the senate. He tweeted "Jones would be a disaster."

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump The last thing we need in Alabama and the U.S. Senate is a Schumer/Pelosi puppet who is WEAK on Crime, WEAK on the Border, Bad for our Military and our great Vets, Bad for our 2nd Amendment, AND WANTS TO RAISES TAXES TO THE SKY. Jones would be a disaster! 2:52 PM - Nov 26, 2017

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump I endorsed Luther Strange in the Alabama Primary. He shot way up in the polls but it wasn’t enough. Can’t let Schumer/Pelosi win this race. Liberal Jones would be BAD! 3:33 PM - Nov 26, 2017

Fiorina also laid in to the fact that she, and every woman she knows, were at one point or another a victim of sexual harassment.

"Of course I was (sexually harassed). Every woman I know was…All women are not victims. But the power of men over women has been with us for a long time and we all know it." The full twelve minute long interview can be seen here.

Us vs them is fine as long as we expel our bad guys right away while they circle the wagons around their villains. It's bad when we expel one of our guys a la Roy Moore based on old allegations just because they don't toe the GOPe line.

Her agent is more likely trotting her out than the GOP.

That $17 million has been paid out over a number of years is infuriating to me.

These fools can’t pass a budget, can’t repeal Obamacare, can’t put together a simple tax-cut bill; yet they can find time to dilly-dally and then hush it up on the taxpayer’s dime.

And, given the payout amount, it’s pretty clear that not everyone has yet been outed. So what determines who gets exposed, a la Mark Foley or Anthony Wiener? Are they no longer useful; becoming too independent?

McTurtle and Lyin’ Ryan need to go down for this.

Bill Clinton, his witch and the corrupt press stated the War On Women...

Hollywood filth thanked the Clintons and the Democrat Party for their 'rape pass' by donating a fortune to democrats for decades.

"Abortion" (which Hollywood called 'women's health') was icing on the cake - the 'product of abuse' could be killed cheaply... KILL THE BABY KILL THE BABY...

And the press never gave a damn about the women the Clinton's abused... they pretended not to notice. Eff Charlie Rose and Chuck Todd and the New York Times and Washington Post.

I think she is right, it does go on in both parties, Hollywood, places of employment and people knew and didn’t say anything for various reasons. Silence for their career, political suicide, the making a complaint process, etc.

Trump backed Luther in primary because of McConnell forcing his hand with getting his bills through the Senate. If you don’t support the candidate we want we will slow walk everything. So yes, it is political.

Carly, I do respect you but the “both parties” and “above politics” schtick doesn’t work well when one of the parties has immunity to commit whatever act, no matter how henious, with impunity.

The democrat party is now the immunocrat party.

Franken can grope and grab, Barney Frank’s lover can operate a ring out of Barney’s DC townhome, Clinton can rape, grope, assault and satisfy himself in the Oval Office with a young intern, Weinstein’s money is accepted here.

But Roy Moore and Donald Trump need to be instantly, sans trial, jailed and they need to be put wherever they are holding the Phi Psi fraternity brothers from UVA and wherever they are holdimg the Duke Lacrosse team.

And who’s to say that that $17 million is all that’s been paid out? We know that Conyers didn’t “avail himself of this “sham Congressional office” to pay off his staffer. I am betting that much, much more money has been spent through other channels to avoid any audit trail in these instances of criminal behavior on the part of our legislators
I know here in CA, they paid out nearly a million bucks last year under their “Open Records Law,” which specifically keeps the public from knowing anything about the payoffs for sexual misconduct on the part of the State legislators. Leave it to government to call something 180 degrees from what it really is!

I’m not denying any of what you said. I’m just wondering why, after no one had heard of her for over a year, she is being showcased.

I still stand by my opinion that she is irrelevant.

“Why is the GOPe trotting her out?”
*******************************
I think she’s trotting herself out. The “face” that the GOPe is trotting out most recently is Senator Thune who is trying to get Trump to ask Moore to “step aside”. That’s not going to happen. Trump is not stupid and he realizes that Moore represents the first of the coming wave of reinforcements that Trump’s Senate allies desperately need to ACTUALLY advance Trump’s agenda for American greatness.
