Good perspective. The Druze are hated by the more traditional brands of Islam for exactly the reasons which you describe. This is why Lebanon was created by the victorious Allies after World War I to give two persecuted groups from the old Ottoman Empire a place to leave in peace together.
This is also why Lebanon prospered from independence until they begin to throw their doors open to Pallies and more traditional Muslims after the 1967 and Yom Kipper wars . . . who, within the next decade thanked their hosts by launching a brutal civil war.
It is what radical (traditional) Muslims do.
