A new study by the VA is showing that a parasite from the jungles of Vietnam may be slowly killing Vietnam War veterans. The study was conducted using blood samples of the veterans.
The VA issued a study this spring to look at the connection between liver flukes that were ingested through undercooked fish and a rare bile duct cancer.

It’s that damn fish stew!
I know several in the 70-75 range with various health problems. I want them to know about this.

Puleeze don’t let anyone taint my Turkey dinner with salmonaalla laced stuffing...
The good news is that it waits 44 years.
The bad news is that it’s been 44 years.
I’m a Vietnam Vet and I’m a young 66, others in their 70’s.
They are old and rode hard .
I get your drift, do you get mine?
No man wants to go out whimpering to the Gov ***
And I am here to tell you if you do expect crap
The VA sucks, now All our healthcare sucks
Oh I agree with that. The government can’t run anything right and they need to stay out of socialized medicine.
I am almost 60 and way to young for that.
All my Viet buddies are gone
Now ceviche is the new agent orange, needs new research...
This story’s a joke Surely the viet populous at large would suffer the same casualty rates from the tainted food
Never knew anyone that died of tiger prawns on Hot sour catfish soup
This is a very short, poorly sourced article with few facts. If you do go to the source, it was conducted in South Korea. Now the question is, where did they get the blood samples? If from ROK RVN vets, who most likely ate more fish than their American buddies, then they would be more susceptible to get the disease.
When I was there it was mess hall cooking or C-Rats. I suspect that’s typical for most US vets.
I lost a couple of buddies ages ago and it weren’t the food, it was the booze that they used to cope with shit
C-rats? I’d rather eat a roasted rat on a stick LOL
Many are in their 60s. Couple good friends are 70.
WC Fields said ages ago “They wont get my lead dog Balto”
Why Not Pa?
“I ate him, Last night coming over the ridge, He was mighty good with mustard”
“When I was there it was mess hall cooking or C-Rats. I suspect thats typical for most US vets.”
Still worth looking into. In 1999, vets had Hep C at ten times the rate of the civilian population.
Thanks I didn’t know that.
