Sarah Palin, pictured in 2016, is pushing forward with her defamation suit against The New York Times over an editorial the newspaper published in June 2017

Washington (AFP) – Sarah Palin, a former governor of Alaska and Republican vice presidential candidate, appealed on Tuesday the dismissal of her defamation suit against The New York Times, according to a court filing.

Her suit against America’s newspaper of record was thrown out in late August by a New York judge who ruled that, in the context of “free” and “robust” American political journalism, “mistakes will be made.”

....

Palin accused the newspaper of having published the editorial with the full knowledge that the connection it mentioned was unfounded, and has pursued a defamation suit against it.

Not a very long article.

There is that old saw about a lie can get half away around the world before the truth can get it's shoes on.

But what is the one about corrections never being seen?

Just get misinformation out there and that way it is set in people's minds.

Ping to Sarah's Informed List.

I can't wait until the New York Times fold completely.

At this rate though I suspect it will be because of Sexual Harassment allegations.

There are higher courts.

30 years ago she would have won this case easily, but today the courts are so corrupt, and political.

"...a New York judge who ruled that, in the context of “free” and “robust” American political journalism, “mistakes will be made...”

Mistakes will be made?

Mistakes will be made?

MISTAKES WILL BE MADE?

Yeah. Mistakes were made. This is reminiscent to me of leftists talking about the Soviet Union, Communist China, or the North Vietnamese: "Oh, mistakes were made, but overall, their hearts were in the right place."

Conveniently forgetting the hundreds of millions of people murdered.

This isn't the same thing, obviously, but the thought process is. As my tagline states, the Left viewed the rights of a candidate like Sarah Palin and the truth about her as just another egg that needed breaking. Another "mistake to be made".

In other words, the NY Slimes doesn't need to bother with little things like Truth or truth, when assassinating the character of those whose lives it's seeking to destroy.

Of course, this is from the paper who sought out to cover up The Ukrainian Holodomor.

Just acceptable causalities for progress.

IOW, deliberately printing falsehoods is just a "mistake"? So, what is libel, then? Does the judge just wear that robe because he goes to choir practice after court?

Judges are lawyers. Lawyers are mostly all Democrats. Many have emotional problems from the job (documented). High level politicians are mostly lawyers, too.

Exactly, great reference! Of all the journalistic scum out there, the NYT is at the apex, and that is saying a lot.

What a gorgeous woman. I wish her and her family the best.

Good luck, Sarah! Yes, you are a public figure and the standards are different, but if they knowingly published something wrong, it is a different story.

Thanks for the ping, KC!

Whoever appointed this judge made a mistake. We have got to take back the judiciary at all levels throughout the country.

That’s the salient point- this “judge” ignored the fact that the news media can and SHOULD HAVE known that the story was false, but they ran it anyway.

This is the entire basis for her suit, and he chose to ignore it.

Media are given great liberty against being sued for libel for famous people, and should not abuse it. This was clearly abuse.

so this judge is taking it on to eradicating the telling of truths by the media...

what a maroon and a dangerous precedent
