You can see his fingers on the visor. A beautiful photo.

Trivia fact:
Except for pictures from the fixed lunar lander camera, all pictures taken on the surface of the moon were of Buzz Aldrin.

Neil Armstrong had the only camera.

I recommend watching ‘For All Mankind’. Different astronauts filmed on the moon.

Tell him he didn’t do it and he lied. He’ll punch your lights out!

Astronaut Gene Cernan salutes the U.S. flag planted on the moon during the Apollo 17 mission. I knew this one because Gene lived here in Kerrville for many years.

Yeah, yeah, it is a PBS production but they reran this the other night. Neil Armstrong was one heck of a guy; his service in the Navy, test pilot work, the Agena incident, the flying bedstead incident, landing the LEM, all of it, unbelievable the accomplishments of one man.

Here's an image I've always liked, presumably taken moments before the salute. You can see Aldrin peeking towards Armstrong, holding the camera, to see if he's ready for the salute, which he then executes with heartfelt sincerity, I can only assume.

... notice that the flag is not rippling! This is a new one on me. I always assumed that it rippled, or wavered, just from dangling there, of course with no atmosphere. However, to my eye, it hasn’t noticeably changed between these two images, which were probably just a second or so apart, but still ...

I suppose there’s a whole book on this!
