Born Charles Milles Maddox on Nov. 12, 1934, in Cincinnati, Ohio, Manson – who took his uncle’s last name – was in and out of reform schools and prison beginning at the age of 12.

In 1967, Manson moved to San Francisco, where he began to attract a devoted group of followers, including some who would later carry out a string of savage killings known as the Tate/LaBianca murders.

Over the course of two nights, the killers took the lives of seven people, inflicting 169 stab wounds and seven .22-caliber gunshot wounds.

On June 16, 1970, Charles Manson and three of his followers – Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkel and Leslie Van Houten – went on trial in Los Angeles for the crimes. The charges came after a major break in the case when Atkins, who was already in jail on another charge, bragged to a fellow inmate about the Tate murders. She said they did it “because we wanted to do a crime that would shock the world.”

The first set of victims included actress Sharon Tate, who was eight months pregnant; a celebrity hairstylist named Jay Sebring; coffee fortune heiress Abigail Ann Folger; writer Wojciech Frykowski; and Steven Earl Parent, a friend of the family’s caretaker.

Each was viciously murdered on Aug. 9, 1969, at the home of Tate and her husband, famed movie director Roman Polanski. Polanski was out of the country at the time. The next evening, another set of murders took place. Supermarket executive Leno LaBianca and his wife, Rosemary, were killed at their home.

Charles Manson is shown in a California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation photo dated Oct. 8, 2014. The word “pig” was written in a victim’s blood on the walls of one home and the front door of another.

Take note of the people and types who “pay respects” to this deranged, murderous sociopath. There are a lot of them, and they are all leftists.

Manson was a neo-Nazi.

“Whatever you do is up to you and it’s the same thing with anyone in my family. And anybody in my family is a white human being, because my family is of the white family. There is the black family, a yellow family, the red family, a cow family and a mule family. There is all kinds of different families.

“We have to find ourselves first, God second, and kind, k-i-n-d, come next.”

No doubt assigned to the “charismatic cult leader” section, alongside Jim Jones, Marshall Applewhite, David Koresh, Ted Kennedy, etc.

Well David Koresh didn’t kill his followers, Janet Reno did and although Kennedy abandoned Mary Jo it wasn’t really murder but he was a sleaze in how he left her to drown. I don’t know their relationship to Yeshua and whether they accepted Him. God’s the final judge.

It’s a pity that Chuck couldn’t take some of his fellow-travelers along. Ayers, Dohrn, et al.

Just a typical Friday night in Chicago. Only in Chicago less than 1 in 8 murders even result in an arrest.

Not to defend the killers in Chicago, but most of those ae gang related shootings. Like the St. Valentine’s Day massacre. All business.

Manson, however, sent his people to butcher (literally) the victims.

Charlie was just a vindictive coward.

He sent his minions to carry out a vengeance killing - he wanted to pay back Terry Melcher, hot record producer who didn’t make Charlie the rock star that Charlie wanted to be.

All the rest - the whole “Helter Skelter; igniting a race war” stuff was sensationalist B.S. cos Charlie had national news cameras pointed at him.

“Helter Skelter; igniting a race war” was the creation of the prosecutor, Vincent Bugliosi.

Buglisiosi knew he couldn’t prosecute Manson on the genuine motives for the killings without exposing the music industry’s links to drugs and crime, so he fabricated the Helter Skelter story.

As Manson himself said: “Mr. Bugliosi is a hard-driving prosecutor, with a polished educa- tion. Semantics, words. He is a genius. He has got everything that every lawyer would want to have except one thing: a case. He doesn’t have a case.”

I’m so glad my parents, and many responsible parents in my neck of the woods, protected me and my siblings from the raw details of this horrific murder episode. Even the media of that time would not broadcast the seedier side of the event until later in the evening, when children were not likely to be watching.

We really were a saner, more nurturing society then, the few horrific crimes notwithstanding.

No, check the statistics. Many or most of the killers may be gang members... but its nothing like the “St. Valentine's Day Massacre”. It is not the mafia and it is not about business. Let's not romanticize the motives of the Manson people vs. other killers. It is mostly all just evil people killing other people... In most cases their victims were just in the wrong place at the wrong time.

When I was working as a firefighter in the early 1990s part of our town was considered one of the most dangerous places on the West Coast. One night I hopped out of bed in the middle of the night to tell the other guys to turn the TV down. They were all laying on the floor. The shooting I thought was from a war movie was going on in the front and side yard of the station. We even ended up with a couple of broken windows.

These clowns weren't shooting at each other because of business, money, or even drugs. It was all straight stupidity and evil and most of their victims were just innocent people that got in the way.

That station was known as the gun and knife club. You could count on seeing at least a couple stabbings and shootings or both every time you went to work. We even had people coming in from out of the area to do ride-alongs to get experience. Thank goodness it finally cleared up.

I spent 25 years working as a firefighter. I saw many horrific scenes which resulted from the evil actions of evil people. Manson and has followers caught the imagination of Hollywood and the public. But there are many others who have the same type of evil lurking within them.

It is hard for us to admit that some people commit murder simply because they enjoy it.
