The military doesn’t draft anyone. A Draft Board of your neighbors and fellow citizens does.

In the mid 1960’s my mom said the same thing when three of her son’s were drafted.

The U.S. government has destroyed any credibility it ever had to compel its citizens to serve in the military.

This idea that the Federal government could draft people to fight military campaigns to prop up Islamic governments in Third World sh!t holes is pathetic.

“I also think there are prices too high to pay to save the United States. Conscription is one of them. Conscription is slavery, and I don't think that any people or nation has a right to save itself at the price of slavery for anyone, no matter what name it is called. We have had the draft for twenty years now; I think this is shameful. If a country can't save itself through the volunteer service of its own free people, then I say: Let the damned thing go down the drain!” ― Robert A. Heinlein

I was a draftee....every able bodied person enjoys the freedom of this country. While I much prefer a voluntary force in extraordinary times some will be called to serve when needed. It is neither new nor uncommon. It is the price of freedom!!!

I don’t want people in the military who don’t want to be there and aren’t qualified. Enough affirmative action/incompetents/trannies/fags/feminists/idiots in the military as it is. Leave the military for the qualified, who want to be there.

Having been drafted myself, I support the idea of citizen soldiers. The mentality is “okay, we’re here, so let’s get the job done and go home.” Historically it has proven effective.

I agree that there are times when it’s necessary. I would like to see the former draftees make up the boards. You men understand whether or not the cause is worth it. Sure, there would be plenty of, “I went, you should too.” But there might be plenty of men saying, “This War” is not worth the price of these young men.

Congress was supposed to do that. But we cannot count on them anymore.

that’s one way to look at it.
WWII had more draftees than Korea and Korea had more draftees than Vietnam.
I aint sayin, I’m just sayin.

The best chance to stop our foreign military follies is a Draft. Until everyone has some skin in the game, the 99% who don’t serve just don’t care.

"Having been drafted myself, I support the idea of citizen soldiers. "

And those currently serving voluntarily are not citizen soldiers??

Arguably the DRAFT, which dictated the course of my life, is MOOT.

By that I mean, Saddam Hussein learned that MASSED armies are impossible to defend against a killing machine like the US Military. And, the USM employed massive restraint!

So, if MASS armies are no longer possible given modern warfare then the DRAFT is just another irrelevant subject for politicians and feminist’s to pontificate about.

Even Israel quietly admits the mass military draft is for social purposes and is not required by military necessity.

Good point, but that never stopped our foreign military follies in Korea and Vietnam — did it?
