SEOUL -- During his first visit to South Korea, President Donald Trump suggested on Tuesday that North Korea enter into talks over scrapping its nuclear and missile programs, apparently keeping the door open for dialogue with Pyongyang after months of tough talk on both sides.

The U.S. president called on China and Russia to play roles in ending the Kim Jong Un regime's nuclear weapons program, urging both countries to cease trade and business with the belligerent communist nation. Trump is due in Beijing on Wednesday following his two-day visit to South Korea.

"I really believe that it makes sense for North Korea to come to the table and make a deal for the people of North Korea and people of the world," said Trump in a press conference after being received by his South Korean counterpart, President Moon Jae-in, at the Blue House....

Trump is a great negotiator and much smarter, than many people think.

Yes. Trump is al those things you said and more. He is also extremely disciplined and patient. That part surprised some people. Not me. I knew he was a careful businessman.

I think this will be an important week. It is going to be considered whether to place NK on a terrorism watch list.

There is a (lot) which has been not happening recently. For two entire months.

Not sure what will happen this week.

If you want the measure of a person, take politics out of it and look at something of substance that they did.

Donald Trump graduated from the Wharton School of Business at U Penn (Ivy League, folks) - that’s one of the 2 or 3 best business schools in the nation. He went there because it was the only Ivy League B School to have a real estate program at the time. They don’t give away admissions there, not even for rich folks.

When he graduated, Trump’s father loaned him $1 million - which he was expected to repay. Well, he did just that and more, and was off to the races. He studied the NYC real estate market extensively by walking the streets (among other things), and entered the commercial market (which his father didn’t know much about or like). He turned that $1 million loan into a multi-billion dollar fortune BEFORE his father died in the late ‘90s (and left him money/assets).

Bad news for those that don’t like Trump - stupid, impatient and undisciplined people do NOT turn a $1 million loan into a multi-billion dollar fortune in 30 or so years. Those who don’t like him are up against a very, very smart operator - someone who is accustomed to doing as he says he’s going to do (because liars don’t go very far in business), and who does things pretty quickly if he can get his chess pieces lined up the right way. Oh, and he doesn’t sleep much, and doesn’t go on vacations - so he’s busy planning how to best outsmart opponents while those opponents are literally sleeping. He is the Swamp’s worst nightmare...and the fondest dream of anyone who hates the Swamp.

I’d highly recommend reading “The Art of the Deal” - borrow it from the library if you don’t want to spend the money. It is his story from his POV about 30 years ago. You’ll get a truer picture of him from that than any other source, IMHO.

Big deal. Hillary took a grand and turned it into one hundred large in ten months in the futures market. She didn’t need no highfutin business school neither. What a woman!

Agreed. It's obvious to anyone who read his book. Most of his deals took years to put in place.

“What a president! He does not back down!”

It seems to me that Trump is growing into the Presidency. This is not surprising, considering he’s actually accomplished things in the private sector. You don’t need to be capable of anything other than being a good bull*hi**er to be successful in politics, so pretty much anyone whose been successful in the private sector could do a good or better job in office than the career politicians we currently have.
