Leading Senate Democrats Call For Ethics Investigation Into Al Franken
Washington Post ^ | November 16 at 1:06 PM | Amber Phillips

Sen. Al Franken (D-Minn.) faced swift and bipartisan condemnation Thursday and a call for an ethics investigation after a Los Angeles model and broadcaster accused him of “forcibly kissing” and groping her in 2006.

After originally issuing a brief apology and saying he didn’t recall the incident the way Leeann Tweeden did, Franken issued a longer apology — “There’s no excuse” — and welcomed the ethics investigation, saying he will “gladly cooperate.”

The top Democrat, Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (N.Y.), said he hopes there will soon be one by the Senate Ethics Committee, which has the authority to recommend expelling a senator. “Sexual harassment is never acceptable and must not be tolerated,” Schumer said in a statement.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.), who is dealing with the political fallout from allegations of sexual misconduct by an Alabama GOP Senate candidate, immediately called on the ethics committee to investigate Franken. McConnell has also not ruled out investigations into Roy Moore if he wins his special election next month despite Republican leaders’ calls for him to drop out of the race.

How many Reps and /or Sens have paid and/or had agents pay hush money to victims and/or had someone sign a non-disclosure agreement.

Let’s see them all get on the record.

I wonder why this is all coming out now? Was he really a viable candidate in 2020? If so, that’d make sense.

I also hope someone gets a hold of the list of congresscritters responsible for the payout of taxpayer dollars to keep accuser’s mouths shut (assuming that story is accurate).

Rush is pissing me off by telling the Left (and McConnell, as he is part of the enemy, with Graham, McCain, Franks, etc.) what to do...toss him aside and you lose nothing.

Just for the record, I read that McConnell has called for an investigation. Even the Dems realize with the Roy Moore situation, they will have to go after Franken. Even if he resigns, they know it’s a safe seat so they’ll sacrifice him. There are others to be sure, lets see what happens or who comes out in the next few days. What women (or even men possibly) will be inspired to share their story of politicians over the next few days.

I would say Frankens case is much like a lot of the Roy Moore accusers (except for two), very boorish behavior but not illegal. Lets see what the Senate is willing to put up with. Does it have to be illegal or merely boorish behavior not becoming of a United States Senator.

Minnesota is not a safe Dem seat anymore due to skyrocketing ObamaCare premiums in the state. Premiums up near 100% over the course of the past 2 years. Heck, Trump almost won Minnesota

"I would say Frankens case is much like a lot of the Roy Moore accusers..."

Except that there's a picture of Franken with his hands on a sleeping Leeann Tweeden's breasts. Proof positive on Franken, whereas all of Moore's accusers have allegations without any proof.
