Trudeau’s discussion of planning on “eradicating white stock Canadians and replacing them”, who he calls “an unpleasant relic” is the literal textbook definition of genocide.

He has maintained all the positive policies and achievements of the previous administrations (and they did very well).
And that shows in continued excellent economic performance.
So he isn’t hated by the business class either, however they dislike his crudities.

If the economy slows down or crashes (might, its been growing too well for too long, maybe), then Duterte will lose support.

RE: What the hell are FReepers doing defending in any way shape or form a murderous SOB like Duterte?

The enemy of my enemy is my friend.

1) Many FReepers like the fact that he put the liberal Justin Trudeau in his place.

2) Many Freepers love the growing Bromance between Duterte and Trump.

Those are the two reasons I can think of.

I know some Filipinos, and they don’t have a problem with Duterte killing drug dealers. Think Mexican cartel members, then multiply the evil a few times, and you’ll have an idea of what Philippine drug dealers are like.

Baloney. This isn’t arresting people and taking them somewhere for murder. Extrajudicial is the technical term for when a cop attempting an arrest uses deadly force...that’s it.

He’s a little rough for our delicate sensibilities, but he is doing something very hard to do there and doing a decent job.
He has a long record as a prosecutor and popular Mayor on Mindanao island, a place lousy with moslems. No record of him being “Hitler” in a rough neighborhood. And now suddenly, the peaceful, internationalist, do-gooder left has decided he is a mass murderer.

I’ll remain very skeptical.

7: "Once you start whacking people, it’s hard to stop."

Don't let it trouble you. Duterte has years of whacking bad people ahead. There's no worry that he's going to run out of bad hombres anytime soon. His muslim problem is enough to keep death squads occupied for a long, long time.

“He’s also admitted to killing a man over a ‘look’ when he was a teenager besides all the murders he’s responsible for when he was a governor.”

Mindanao is a damned rough neighborhood, even by PI standards.
As Buck Owens said, “How many of you that sit and judge me, ever walked the streets of Bakersfield?”

Mindanao is even worse than Bakersfield. There are places in this world where if someone gives you a certain look, you better hit first or you won’t be around long.

“and he has no real base of support in the Philippine oligarchy or institutions.”

And we have a winner kids... that’s why Duarte is the bad guy du jour.

“What the hell are FReepers doing defending in any way shape or form a murderous SOB like Duterte?”

You could call it that. OR, you could call it not being lead around by the nose by the MSM, the EU leaders, Trudeau, friends of Obama, and others.
Ever notice how ALL you know about what is going on in the PI is coming directly from the people who are the enemies of everything we stand for?

When Trudeau talks about replacing “Old Stock White Canadians,” does that include himself? His family’s involvement in Canada began with an ancestor named Étienne Trudeau, who arrived as an indentured servant in the 1660s.

>I’m sorry, but I have a bad feeling about Duterte.

>Once you start whacking people, it’s hard to stop.

Says who? Pinochet didn’t have this problem.

You’re confusing leftist murder cycles with rightwing order restoring cycles. Both involve killing, but the right-wing ones come to an end when order is restored why left-wing ones just keep getting crazier and crazier.

My wife is from Mindanao. It was safe for me to visit the island in 1985, when we got married. Unfortunately it isn’t safe for Americans now. When my wife went back to visit her family, she went alone.

I like how Dutuerte and Trump are able to smoke out all the drugsters. They reveal how the WeedWeaklings fall in line behind their fellow wussies homobama and trudeau.

Druggies prove once again how emotional and unbalanced they are.

I understand Trudeau also gave Aung San Suu Kyi, the Burmese secretary of state, a hard time, because of Burmese persecution of the Rohingyas, Moslems living in the western province of Rakhine (formerly Arakan). In other FR threads, there is a consensus that we should cut the Burmese some slack, in view of how much trouble Moslems have caused elsewhere.

Is there an aspect of Islam in the PI dope trade? That would explain who cracking down on dealers would be unpopular with the left if it affected their muslim buddies. And i saw that same thing in Burma.

Seems like along with “follow the money”, “follow the muslim connections” is a good rule of thumb for internationalist outrage.

My wife didn’t like Duterte before last year’s election, but has been a strong supporter of him since then. She spends a good part of her free time watching news stories from the Philippines on YouTube, because we can’t count on the MSM saying much about Duterte, and they definitely won’t say anything good about him. The previous administration had neglected the armed forces and police to the point that it did not have the money or equipment to do its job, so it doesn’t surprise me that the president who fixes that problem would go too far in the other direction. Myself, I tend to regard Duterte and Trump the same way; both are bad ideas whose time has come. They may not be the heads of state all of us want, but for the crises of today, they are the leaders we need.

Well, the meth, or “shabu” as the Filipinos call it, comes mainly from the Chinese. But I believe the Moslem rebels and ISIS are involved in the drug traffic, too. I’ll have to read up on what was found when the fighting in Marawi ended last month.

Isn't war, if anything, extrajudicial killing on a massive scale? How much more should it be towards agents seeking to dismantle and destroy civil society while remaining in the dark, unaccounted for?

I think the answer is the sovereign state determines what it must do to survive and thrive. If Duterte takes it to an unreasonable level, history will let him know.
