The Giants are a hot mess for a lot of reasons. First, you have co-owners in the Maras and Steve Tisch. It’s an arrangement that really doesn’t work, although the two sides tend to agree. The Giants, like any other successful franchise, need a majority owner or a managing partner who calls the shots. Let the rest of the ownership group enjoy their luxury suite and the annual profit check.
And for heaven’s sake, they need an owner who is willing to take risks and build for the long term. Both Tisch and the Maras are risk and change-adverse. They stuck with Tom Coughlin long after it was evident that he was no longer effective as head coach. Now, they’re voicing support (at least Tisch is) for Ben McAdoo when it’s clear he has lost the team and a lot of players are just phoning it in. Ditto for Jerry Reese, the GM. One of the worst in the NFL; he’s “gone cheap” on the OL and at RB, with predictable results. Did the same thing on defense for years as well. Never rebuilt after Giants’ last Super Bowl victory—stuck with the same guys past their prime and tried to patch the gaps with undrafted rookie free agents.
One thing I admire about Jerry Jones was his commitment to build around the offensive line and maintain at least one great RB on the roster. Dallas has all the pieces in place and with a little more seasoning, Dak Prescott should get them to the Super Bowl. Meanwhile, the G-men are looking at a four year rebuild.
Bud’s name is on the ring of fame. Joe Kapp’s name isn’t. I meant nothing disrespectful of Bud Grant by giving Joe credit. The following year BTW, the defense scored more points than the offense, led by Gary Cuozzo. After the loss to Kansas City, Joe Kapp asked for more money and was traded to the Patriots. If Joe had stayed, Fran never would have come back. But, they could have won the Super Bowl the next year by replacing Dave Osborne and Bill Brown.

He pays about $2 million a year as long as they play there and passes through a portion of the money he gets from AT&T for naming rights.
He apparently agreed to pay for the cost overruns, which are very substantial...................
Kapp was the head coach when the Cal Bears won that wild multi lateral game against Stanford in “82” where the band ran on the field because they thought the game was over.
I’m sure you know this, he was the first Mexican American NFL player, who’s 7 TDs in a game stood alone until Opie (Payton Manning) matched it with Denver. One more thing on him, he has Alzheimer’s now.
I have thought for sometime that Tim Tebow is a modern version of Lapp. They both tossed ugly ducks but would run you over if they has to to get some yards or a TD. Tebow would be in the Hall of Fame if he played in the 60’s.
Yes, I remember Joe well. I was a kid, barely 13 the year they went to their first SB. One of the Viking back up defensive players dated the English teacher I was in love with. LOL

That sounds right - I always heard that Arlington paid 2/3 and Jerry paid 1/3 - which is WAY more than other owners pay.
Good news, anything that accelerates the NFL’s death is a good thing.
I knew all of that, except that he now has Alzheimer’s. Sad news. I was only 11 when he won the NFL Championship. His name needs to be up with everyone else’s names. That and pull the roof off the new stadium before it gets any colder and they might make it this year...
