Oddly, there is no mention of where he is going to get the water for this utopian city. Last I heard, Arizona is the desert.

Dang.

Houses are inexpensive around there and I’d thought about buying one before prices went up.

Beware.
Your new homes will be susceptable to mega viruses, need to be rebuilt every three weeks, and you will have to disable spyware in your home after each rebuild.

Do any of these planned cities ever work out?

Reston, Virginia, Columbia,Maryland, Seaside, Florida come to mind. Have any of these places lived up to the promise of the new urbanist promise of being a better more livable city?

Don’t know. Reston seems a fine city, but whether that is due to it being planned, I doubt.

With or without Gates and planned cities this area will be developed.
