Senator Rand Paul's neighbor Rene Boucher has pleaded not guilty after being charged for attacking the Senator at his Kentucky home.
Paul is currently recovering after he was allegedly tackled from behind by Boucher for what Boucher's attorney told CBS News in a statement "was a very regrettable dispute between two neighbors over a matter that most people would regard as trivial."
But Paul appears to be disputing claims made by his next-door neighbor's lawyer that a "trivial" dispute over landscaping issues were at the root of a recent dust-up that left the senator with six broken ribs.
The statement did not further describe what precipitated the attack. It did note that Boucher and Paul have been next-door neighbors for 17 years and said that the two, both physicians, had worked together when they were both practicing. "We sincerely hope that Senator Paul is doing well and that these two gentlemen can get back to being neighbors as quickly as possible."
But Paul's most recent tweets suggest the drama may not be as minor as Boucher's attorney makes it seem. Paul tweeted links to two reports by Breitbart News and the Washington Examiner, both claiming the reports of a "landscaping dispute" were erroneous, citing various neighbors of the Paul family.

(CNN)The story of Rand Paul allegedly being attacked by a neighbor — and breaking six ribs in the process — is strange on its face.
The initial explanation offered by some neighbors of both men and the attacker’s lawyer — that the episode occurred due to a dispute over leaves or grass trimmings — was even stranger.
Rene Boucher pleaded not guilty Thursday morning in a Bowling Green courtroom to misdemeanor fourth degree assault charges stemming from the Nov. 3 incident in the gated community where the two men live.
Paul’s decision on Wednesday night to tweet two stories — one from Breitbart, the other from the Washington Examiner — that call into question the flora and fauna explanation is even stranger still.
Both stories feature quotes from other neighbors insisting that the initial reporting that this attack was the result of a “landscaping dispute” (how amazing is that phrase?) is, in fact, fake news.
“The stories of a ‘landscaping dispute’ or a dispute of any sort between Rand Paul and Rene Boucher are erroneous and unfounded,” a Paul neighbor named Travis Creed told the Washington Examiner. “The reason for Mr. Boucher’s bizarre attack is known only to him. Statements to the contrary are irresponsible and unnecessary.”
The two stories — which have lots of similarities, including the quote above from Creed — appear to represent a concerted effort by Paul allies to not only raise questions about the current story of the attack but also suggest that the real motivations of Paul’s attacker were political.

It doesn’t much matter if the dispute was about politics or about a tree that was overhanging the perp’s property. Attacking someone from behind and causing serious physical injury is not going to be mitigated based on the nature of the quarrel.
yea - Five broken ribs is “trivial.” I broke 2 ribs in a bicycle crash and that hurt like H**l. Could not sleep or breathe for a couple of weeks.
Attempted murder might be more appropriate.
Allegedly? Did he or did he not attack Senator Paul?

It’s a Misdemeanor, just like purposely giving somebody AIDS in CA.
The good news is, in MA owning a Bump Stock is a Felony that can get you Life In Prison.
Yep, things are just grand in the good old USA.
There is an unrelated report of an attack by the neighbor prior to this one, known to the association board. There is reason to believe the neighbor is suffering significant bouts of rage.
Yet another assault by a leftist.
And the pain is excruciating any time you cough or sneeze.
Looks like Senator Paul will soon be owning the house right next door to him!
This ongoing smear campaign of President Trump is mostly a battle to keep and stand by the Constitution....just a short time ago a leading NPR news hen said "I wish Trump would quit mentioning the Constitution so much" or words to that effect.
This is a federal felony with a 10 year sentence.
Why is this guy still walking around on $7,500 bail?
