Alimony is a penalty for wrong doing.

That statement is as ignorant as any I have heard on Free Republic.

Another girl who wants to preserve alimony, but cloaks it in religion.
My ex didn’t get alimony because I didn’t do anything wrong.
In my state there has to be a proven wrong in order to get alimony.
What state, and what year?
In MOST states now, alimony is awarded based purely upon income disparity.
They call it by several names, but the IRS treats it all the same.
Every divorce situation is different. There is no way I could contribute to a solution.
Perhaps a counselor, pastor, priest could be of help.

North Carolina makes allowance for Marital Misconduct.
But that’s probably the only state. How much credence the current judiciary gives such nowadays is suspect.

Yep - got divorced while in AF and wife had been around long enough to have “earned part of my retirement”. Initially, they took her share out after my taxes so I was paying the taxes and she was getting a net sum. Some years ago, they changed it so they take her share out pre-taxes so she pays the taxes instead of me — since it’s part of an enlisted military “retirement”, there’s really not much difference either way....
