VIDEO: ‘My God Protected Me,’ Says Man Who Shot Texas Church Killer
Breitbart ^ | 11-6-2017 | BOB PRICE

The Sutherland Springs man who came face-to-face with a madman who killed 26 people in a Texas church says God protected him and gave him the skills he needed to stop more deaths. The former NRA instructor engaged Devin Patrick Kelley as he exited the church.

"I'm no hero. I'm not," Stephen Willeford told 40/29 News reporter Joshua Cole in a video interview on Monday. "I think my God, my Lord, protected me and gave me the skills I needed to do what needed to be done."

"I just wish I could have gotten there faster," Willeford said in an emotional interview. "I didn't know. I didn't know what was happening."

Willeford told Cole the experience was surreal. "I was scared," he said. "It was surreal to me-it couldn't be happening."

After hearing the "pop pop pop pop" sound that was all too familiar to a former NRA instructor, Willeford said he grabbed his rifle and quickly loaded rounds into his magazine. When he stepped out onto the street, he saw a man wearing all black, a tactical helmet, and a ballistic vest.

"I kept hearing the shots, one after another, very rapid shots - just 'pop pop pop pop' and I knew every one of those shots represented someone, that it was aimed at someone, that they weren't just random shots," Willeford explained. "He saw me and I saw him."

He said he took cover and did what he had to do.

Kudos to Willeford. The article above doesn’t mention it but he was also using an AR-15 style rifle. Just saying....

I'd wager that if I had some background, I might enjoy the post - care to decrypt it for some of us who could use a chuckle but don't always have all the needed info?

“After hearing the “pop pop pop pop” sound that was all too familiar to a former NRA instructor...”

In the Crowder interview he said it sounded like somebody was tapping on his window. His daughter came running up from the kitchen and said it was shooting. He said he didn’t think so, but followed his daughter into the kitchen where it was more distinct - and when he opened the door then he knew.

Two points - the sound of gunfire can be very deceiving, and reporters often try to write in a compelling fashion - even if it doesn’t quite fit the facts. (Although I guess once he opened the door the statement is true.)

For those who would say, “But, but God says that vengeance is HIS”.

I would say to them, Did GOD not use David to rain down vengeance on the head of the amalekites?

So what makes you think HE cannot use a guy with a gun today?

Willeford might have been there faster, but he had to at least partially load the empty magazine he had his hands on. It was a “high capacity” magazine and an AR 15 he used against the murderer that democrats want to ban.

Careful when you say that. One might ask the question “then why didn’t He protect the others who got killed? Kinda unfair, eh”

The truth is that there is free will, and the shooter acted on it. Seeing divine intervention in all events is foolish and stupid.

Ye Gods....now liberal heads will REALLY explode. The hero of the moment is, not just an NRA member, but an NRA instructor.

Think about how it would have been if the good man had not had the gun that could defend himself and the church-goers.

It would have been far worse if good citizens could not stop the mentally ill shooter.

Another thread about Crowder’s interview here:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/3602308/posts

Some interesting takeaways from the interview.

Willeford had an AR-15 during his gunfight with Kelley who had a pistol at that time. Apparently Kelley had previously dropped his rifle and it wasn’t shot out of his hand. Willeford took cover behind a neighbor’s truck. Two of Kelley’s return shots struck the house behind him, one passing within a few feet of a young boy. And after the chase commenced, Willeford checked to see how many rounds he had left. He had 2 and they still pursued Kelley.

Brave men....

This is why you should always keep a couple of magazines loaded and ready to go.

I have a "144:1" patch on my Bug-Out Bag. I believe in "Muscular Christianity." Because I know that the God-less, the Left, want to kill us.

Breitbart is a complete nightmare to click on. You are inundated with ads that make it virtually impossible to read the article. I wish something could be done by somebody who knows a lot more about such things so that we could read articles from them. I won’t go on their site again.

And God bless this great, humble man.

An NRA instructor using an AR-15. None of that will make it in any of the mainstream stories.
