Mr. Langendorff saw the firefight, knew what was happening and responded to Mr. Willeford's request to chase after the shooter.
Johnnie apparently witnessed part of the lead slinging, knew who was the chaser and knew that that guy was not pointing the gun at him while asking him to drive.
A white guy who wears a Confederate battle flag hat and a white guy who wears a Harley Davidson shirt help take down a white mass shooter. Leftists’ heads everywhere are going to explode with cognitive dissonance.
One of the reports I heard said a witness saw the gunman approaching the church “in full gear”. And, apparently Mr. Willeford’s daughter got a good look at what was happening. So I can well imagine how scared Willeford (especially) must have been to go out there to take on a gunman in body armor, even if he (Willeford) had an equivalent weapon...
So, Mr. Willeford wounds the shooter anyway, then our good guys in a pickup truck chase after the shooter at speeds reportedly up to 90+ mph. (I suppose the adrenaline both helps and hurts.)

I was thinking the same thing. In places like LA, a gunman running out towards an occupied vehicle, most would run him over...lol.
Then again the hero was bare foot, and I'm assuming right near the church. In fact one story has them exchanging fire out front while the suspect was in his vehicle and fleeing. No doubt everyone in the area could hear the gun fire and the wheelman possibly saw or maybe heard what was going on and joined in when asked. I dunno, just guessing.

The shooter was in Full body armor yet Mr. Willeford ran towards him with his rifle. I know he was thinking “I’ve got to stop this guy” but honestly, it is a miracle he was not killed. He had on a t-shirt, for crying out loud.... He said he thought God protected him and he is probably right.
He and Mr. Langendorff are huge heroes in my eyes! May God bless them both!
