There is a forest of construction cranes where ever you look these days. Roads are clogged with commute traffic. Contractors I call for some home improvements are solidly booked for six months. “Help Wanted” signs all over the place.

All the indirect, “soft” indicators are solid as can be.

Can’t avoid a culture war with nitwits like Wesley Crusher, Colin Kraperik, and Chelsea Handler unable to contain themselves. Good luck with that. Trump is great at bringing out the best in these morons.

The Democrats have no desire to talk about the economy or jobs, except to tank both of them.

They do care about jobs for illegals and people in other countries.

Unfortunately for them, those constituents can’t legally vote for them.

Trump forced Democrats onto the battlefield of his choosing.

Uh no. The democrats/SJWs going nuts and forcing people at gun point to accept terrible behavior and bad morality was finally met by someone who said no. Someone finally pushed back on the side of decency.

The Democrat base is fragmented. Bernie Sanders’ supporters hate both Hillary and Obama. Hillary’s supporters hope she’ll run again. Blue collar Democrats are beginning to notice that they’re at the bottom of the heap, in terms of Democrat priorities.

There’s no way the Democrats can nominate a candidate that will unify them. What pleases one group will alienate another.

Yeah exactly! And millions of voters are sick of their behavior.

Not saying you’re wrong, but how would Oprah appeal to the Bernie Bros? Hasn’t she been a long-time Hillary crony? She certainly endorsed her. (Don’t underestimate how enraged Sanders’ supporters are with the Democrat establishment. I drop in on Jack Pine Radicals from time to time. These are people who characterize Obama as having “sodomized,” the Democrat party. What they say about Hillary is far worse. They won’t be easily passified.)

I wonder to what degree working class whites will align with Oprah. She’s become more race oriented as time goes by.

The self-delusion in this one is strong. Unless something radically changes between now and November 2018, how do the Democrats think they are going to run on “jobs and the economy” when the last time they were in charge of both houses of Congress people were talking about the next Great Depression, versus things being better now than in 10-20 years?

You can’t be focusing on spending more money than we bring in and raising taxes and stand for the working man.

They are about taxing at higher rates so that there’s more money to spend yet still go deeper in debt, they want open borders so that all the freeloaders can get here and on some social program and expand their voter base, they’re trying to introduce a carbon based emissions monetary system.

That sort of resembles the GOP leadership plans. Hide Amnesty in tax reduction package that actually raises taxes.

They really don't get it. Jobs and the economy got Trump into office and they're doing fine. The problem is that you really can't do a "laser focus" on those without incorporating several social issues that the Dems stubbornly continue to advance: illegal immigration, political correctness in the workplace and the schools, the mess their policies have made with middle-class medical care, environmental policies that hurt productive industries and prevent others from hiring, increased taxes coming out of middle class pockets for redistributive schemes, the list goes on and on. That's the face of the party now. They own that stuff, proudly, and they advance it unapologetically, and when it hurts them they blame the victims.

Of course it's a culture war, and it's been going on ever since the Dems swung hard Left and tried to ride it to power. They're stuck with it. The single Dem most successful in repudiating it was BJ Billy Clinton in his Sister Souljah moment. That hasn't happened since.

Exactly. There are, however, two ways in which Democrats can win.

1. Republicans disillusion conservatives.

2. Demographic suicide.

Both of these options are the preference of the Bushes and other Establishmentarians.

, I have to admire the president’s ability to keep us talking about anything other than jobs and economic well-being,

You don’t want him talking about that either, slick.
The economy is in the early stages of a boom, creating
jobs at a rate exceeding expectations. And you think
you’re gonna win bashing that?
