I strongly suspected that was the case from the moment this story broke.
I’m not a veteran, but I’d say experience should have taught us that generally speaking, we can’t rely on local troops or even NATO troops to have our back. And you almost can’t blame the local troops. I hear they’re often threatened with the torture and death of their families if they don’t run off in the fight. There must be some unbelievably evil people in those places. I thank God I was born in the USA. As bad as things have gotten, it’s still the best place on earth.
