The news cycles don't take breaks on the weekends anymore. Hollywood keeps reeling from the aftermath of the still worsening Harvey Weinstein scandal, and another accusation was leveled in a new direction on Sunday night.
The Wrap reported that Star Trek: Discovery actor Anthony Rapp on Sunday claimed that Oscar winner Kevin Spacey, star of the hit TV series, 'House of Cards', 'tried to seduce' him decades ago when he was a 14-year-old actor appearing on Broadway."
In an interview with BuzzFeed, Rapp said that a then-26-year-old Spacey invited him to a party in 1986 and "placed him on his bed, climbed on top of him and made a sexual advance" before Rapp was able to squirm away.
On Sunday night, Spacey said on his Twitter account, I honestly do not remember the encounter but if I did behave as he describes, I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior.
Spacey decided to respond by coming out as gay, something that has been rumored for years.
The Twitter responses to this were generally harsh, and mostly not fit to share here. The gist is that he's closely guarded his sexuality for decades but decided to come out now to provide some sympathy cover.
Of course, if the allegation is true, the problem isn't that he's gay, it's that he propositioned a minor. At this point, it's Rapp's word against Spacey's, and it happened a long time ago.
Spacey has a pretty good reputation, but public opinion isn't exactly pro-Hollywood after the last few weeks, so this might be rough for him.
I knew Kevin Spacey was a pervert, homo and leftist after watching the disgusting “American Beauty.”
That sewage could only flow from the twisted mind of a leftist, militant homosexual.
That’s his defense and deflection from being an admitted pedophile.
Spacey tried the “Yay, I’m Gay!” defense to the claim of same sex sexual harassment. Not a bad move in today’s climate. A deflection with a reasonable chance of success.
I don’t think I’ll ever watch another new hollywood movie or TV show. Ick.
RE: Thats his defense and deflection from being an admitted pedophile.
If Homosexuality is OK, why not pedophilia? ( That was the question supposedly asked by the celebrated Harvey Milk ).
no craps are given
RE: ‘tried to seduce’ him decades ago when he was a 14-year-old actor appearing on Broadway.”
I wonder why it takes people decades to bring charges like these up...
Pardon the pun but who else will BLOW Spacey’s cover or perhaps FINGER him with the goods.
As if this will get him off for pedophilia
It is well known in the industry that KS is a homosexual.
And Spacey’s behavior while drinking is widely known, so much so that he always has a “handler” with him when he goes to parties.
Why does it take so long?
If it isn’t a completed rape, then an immediate complaint is probably career-ending, as well as a black-eye due to a feeling that maybe the victim asked for it.
This is a no-harm, but definitely a foul situation. Maybe the accuser wanted to wait until he was both psychologically, financially, and professionally secure before speaking out.
And, after some of the moves Spacey put on his bodyguard in “House of Cards”, it’s entirely believable. That sideline wasn’t essential to the story line, IMHO.
Kevin, should I care you are gay? I believe you are a pedophile and you should be in jail...
It seems the whole lot of celebrities are faggots
