Maybe they could call us Red Rex and Hill Dilly.

The only exception would be that Caucasians can call other Caucasians redneck. My very black friends with very rednecks in East Texas would be at odds with that.
Exceptions to every rule ya know. ;-)

Ha. On the Netflix show “Ozark” there are a family of hillbilly criminals that kill a big drug kingpin they were about to make a huge deal with just because he called them “rednecks”. Kind of shot themselves in the foot, but they just couldn’t let that slide!

If you ever are curious as to what the Left thinks of us, just watch Deliverance........................
Hey, Catholics think all Protestants are snake handlers and all Protestant pastors have thick southern accents.

Redneck and hillbilly When spoken by most people these words are intended as a slur, pretty much the equivalent of calling someone a n****r, except it's targeted toward white people and it's still politically correct.

As one with North Florida panhandle origins with East Tennessee mountain roots (Dad)... I proudly wear both labels. Rednecks are generally from Deep South red clay areas, Hillbillies from Appalachian mountain areas, but now they live in all parts of the country. Notso much book learning education but plenty of smarts, skilled in hunting, fishing and farming... connected to the dirt, with little use for pretentious citified know-it-alls.

The big rock festival in Charlotte is called “Carolina Rebellion.” Who knew Avenged Sevenfold was a neoConfederate group, huh?

“little use for pretentious citified know-it-alls.” And, thankfully, they have little use for us. Well except for tax purposes. ;-)

Thanks for the info. I’m partial to all of ‘em.
I quilt with some E. TN ladies who must be hillbillies according to your definition. I swear they can do anything in spite of minimal education. Natural peppers. Use weapons often to deal with unwanted critters threatening their animals and gardens. Know when to plant crops based on the moon. They are the toughest people I’ve ever met. Am
