Harvey Sweinstein And Hollywood’s Hos

I’d like to better understand the conservative media’s orgy over Harvey Weinstein, the disgraced and disgraceful Hollywood film producer and studio executive who used his power over decades to have his way with starlets.

To listen to conservative talkers, the women affronted or assaulted by Weinstein were all Shakespearean talent in the making—female clones of Richard Burton (he had no match among women)—who made the pilgrimage to Sodom and Gomorrah in the Hollywood Hills, for the purpose of realizing their talent, never knowing it was a meat market. Watching the women who make up the dual-perspective panels “discussing” the Weinstein saga, it’s hard to tell conservative from liberal.

I prefer to reference that location in Calibfornia now as "fondlewood" Anyway. WOW! Ms. Mercer holds, well, nothing back in this piece. With links to prove her point that may be a little much for some faint hearted folks. Or just disgusting diplays of individuals struggling for the rights of women. Or something.

I think most of us are enjoying the total hypocrisy of the Left. Just another example of the ‘good for me, but not for thee’ hypocrisy that the Left holds dear. If Weinstein had been a Conservative, he would have been in jail decades ago.

The dog that's not barking for me is Vanity Fair. When I read the magazine in the mid-2000's, primarily for the excellent Dominick Dunne pieces, you couldn't help but stumble over this or than coverage of Harvey Weinstein. Today, though the magazine still exists, they are more of a website and an e-mail newsletter operation, but still with awful politics. They send out a daily e-mail blurb called "The Hive" which has the motto "Where Wall Street, Washington and Silicon Valley Meet". They kinda dropped the Hollywood part. And I suspect they are just dreading the day that some journalist looks back over their coverage of Weinstein, because they sucked up to the guy and uncritically promoted him like no one else.

What conservative talkers, most conservatives I know, realize a lot of actresses are basically whores who are willing to do anything to further their careers.

I like Dominick Dunne too. Have you read his “The Way We Lived Then”?

That’s a very strange picture. It almost looks like the bottom half and the mid-section are not from the same person.

Yeah, tread carefully. Just the descriptions may provide all the proof you need to declare these people miscreants.

I have encountered more than a little skepticism about the ladies involved. Their willingness to meet him in hotel rooms would seem to mitigate the seriousness of rape charges a bit. Maybe their mamas never told them about such things? Their silence after forcible rape is post-event acquiescence to keep their promised celebrity intact. A monster is a monster but those who continue to feed and care for the monster share some responsibility for the monster’s continued depredations. That includes the men and women who knew but kept mum. Of course at least some of them are wallowing in their own foulness. Is Weintein different from, say, John Kennedy? or Mr Bill?

Sweinstein is just a sacrificial lamb for the purpose of moral grandstanding. A staged purge. Once the performance has run its course, the libs will continue on thier depraved way, feeling grand for thier groupthink cause and looking for another flash mob excercise.

The author is spot-on about the spectacle of shame though. Did women early on in the feminist movement have any idea this would be the end result? If memory serves, they wanted to vote, they wanted the option of careers if they chose, etc. In the EARLY stage. Now it’s a psych ward movement.

Apparently he’s already checked himself out of the voluntary sex rehab facility. Guess there weren’t enough hot nurses there for him? Kinda as phony as weiner and his rehab at some dude ranch where he could ride around on a horse or something.

While I admit to being shocked, and to being shocked that I COULD be shocked, by the booty eating on tv clip and the naked on the red carpet pic, I still feel that no one should be sexually assaulted or raped. I do not blame the women.

And the gratuitous slam at Sean Hannity at the end was stupid. He has taken the correct tack here. Weinstein was a felon rapist pig getting away with it because of his power. These monsters need to be weeded out.

Yes, women have learned by cheap pop culture that exposing themselves, dressing sexy, gets them popularity. It’s not good, but they don’t learn modesty, either at home or in any facet of our culture including moderate religious practice.

Free Republic is a CONSERVATIVE site, pro religion, and photos of half naked pretty women are applauded HERE too. It’s ubiquitous. Don’t blame women seeking an entertainment career for following society’s DEMAND that they be sexy. Remember that mothers everywhere, trying to buy modest clothing for their daughters, have trouble finding non sexy clothing for their sixth graders.

That many women were convinced by Hollywood power, and already famous female entertainers, to engage in sexual contact in order for a career DOESNT MEAN THE PROBLEM IS THE YOUNG INGENUE. The problem IS the culture. The silence of the Meryl Streeps. That is the problem.

The article blaming these victims is dead wrong.

I tend to share this view actually

I know it’s not popular here but it’s exactly what I’m told by folks who live in that world

Most actresses will do anything for a breakthrough role

The ones who went along far outnumber those coming forth

And some coming forth are doing it for career as well

It’s a mess

Harvey is a vile predatory slob pineapple face in a sea of debauchery that preexisted him

He must have been in high cotton till now

What galls me is the even more disgusting crap of moguls diddling boys is getting a pass so far

Brings to mind the woman who claims she was raped by HW 3 times. As I remember something like 2010, 2011 and 2015 - stopped reading ‘bout that time.

I got caught in a compromising place with a guy once...someone I worked with...hotel room...luckily I extracted myself quickly...and NO, My Mama or Dad NEVER gave me any advice, ever. I had to learn everything in dealing with men on my own. It wasn’t fun.
