Cruz totally outclassed Sanders in last night’s debate
The Washington Post ^ | October 19, 2017 | Ed Rogers

CNN is to be commended for their sponsorship of the tax debate between Sens. Ted Cruz (R-Tex.) and Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.) last night. It was a serious, informative discussion about an important issue in Washington. Imagine that.

During the debate, Cruz did himself — and the Republican Party — a lot of good. He maintained a friendly, informative and nimble presence, effectively outlining the case that GOP tax reform is part of an overall economic plan, whereas Sanders’s call for tax increases for the rich appeared to be knee-jerk and punitive rather than part of a serious economic policy. And even though the mainstream media would never admit it, if there were ever a contest to determine who is the “thinking person’s” candidate, Cruz would beat Sanders by a mile.

I was surprised at how Sanders stuck to the same basic liberal platitudes of more taxes and more spending and the socialist call for free college. The debate showed just how limited Sanders’s range is as a politician. He has a few new socialist slogans but no real plans.

When Cruz asked Sanders, “since this is a tax debate, what is the difference between a socialist and a Democrat on taxes,” Sanders answered pointedly, “I don’t know the answer to that.” I thought Sanders would have been better prepared and had something new to say. But by essentially admitting that there was no difference between a socialist and a Democrat, Sanders made an important point.....

Pretty easy to outclass a private jetting socialist.

I’m amazed Sanders agreed to do it. Seriously.

Lemme guess, Bernie kept saying “One Percent!”, and “Gimmie your s**t!”

He won 23 states in the primaries last year. Were it not for superdelegates he’d have been the Democratic presidential nominee.

The only thing Bernie talked about was “Millionaires and billionaires...”

Bern was robbed!!

I think he was also scuffed up a bit, just before the Dim convention - maybe the Dingy Reid treatment.

I’d vote for Sanders if life was free.

The problem is life has a price and we all pay for it - that’s true whether its with cash or in some other form.

Sanders problem is he doesn’t want to admit everything he proposes isn’t really free.

Which is why I can never vote for him or embrace the philosophy he espouses.

A preview of the 2024 presidential matchup. Bernie will only be 84.

“I don’t know the answer to that.”

Or anything else, for that matter. Sen Sanders, you may now leave the premises.

That’s the scary part. It’s easy to outclass a socialist in a debate, but impossible to out-Santa Claus him in a campaign.

Socialism sounds beautiful - until you have to pay it with someone else’s money.

And if that someone else doesn’t want to pay, you have to take it by force.

We can only be kind to some by being cruel to others. If you ask me how we can be kind to everyone, I have no answer to offer any more than Sanders does.

And I’m a kind person.

... and he may run again in 2020. Of course the dems may rig the primaries again ... depending on who else is running. Maybe even Hillary?

We don’t live in the Garden Of Eden.

Sure we could have all of our needs and wants covered but I suspect we wouldn’t be happy.

Mortality allows us to grow and thrive in a way we couldn’t do in a perfect world.

I stipulate I have no idea if Heaven is an upgrade.

But the human effort to implement it on earth has never worked out like people have expected.
