President Donald Trump and Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell reiterated Monday that they want to see a tax bill passed by the end of the year.
"I really believe that we have a very good chance of getting the taxes done ... hopefully fairly long before the end of the year," the president said in a hastily scheduled, roughly 40-minute news conference following a lunch with the Kentucky Republican.
McConnell added: "The goal is to get it done by the end of the year."

I am spitting mad. I just heard McConnell LIE RIGHT THROUGH HIS TEETH at the live joint statement today.
He bashed Christine O’Donnell (Delaware) and blamed her loss on HER being a losing candidate that didn’t appeal to voters. What a bold-faced LIE. McTurdle repeated his lie several times.
The TRUTH is, Karl Rove and the GOP Establishment SABOTAGED Christine at every turn, spent $ to undermine and set her up to lose. They refused to work with her, supply voting pamphlets/literature/materials, and actively worked against her.
McTurdle and Tokyo Rove are lying SOBs of the first order. Turdle stands right by our President’s side and plays all nice, i.e. “We’re on the same page”, blah blah blah. But we all know how behind his back, in closed doors, you scream your hatred of him, and of us.

While I’m not as conversant on the Christine O’Donnell (Delaware) situation as you are, I do concur about McConnell.
He needs to go back to his home state.
Ryan can go with him, as long as he goes.
I’ve seen the GOPe pull the same stunts in my state (California), just surrendering top level positions to the Democrats. It’s very frustrating.
Then you get the know-it-all people in other states blaming it on the citizens of California.
Look folks, if only one side is competing, that side is going to win. End of story.

Bannon needs to take this guy out. He’s way too duplicitous to be in the Senate and especially in the leadership.
We need the full court press to just demolish him politically.
I wouldn’t trust him as far as I can throw him. . .considering I couldn’t lift him off the ground, that won’t be very far.
McConnell’s train rides around the swamp in big circles, sort of the like the 1/10 scale at the zoo.
Let’s hope that if he isn’t, the Senate Republican Caucus axe falls swiftly and cleanly and his head is paraded around Lafayette Park by a vast crowd of deplorables.
