It’s not beyond the realm of possibility.

ISIS calls on recruits to copy arson terror method used in Israel

Thousands of fire-fighters battle blazes across Israel

Through arson, operatives can “impose terror on an entire country,” the terror organization boasted.

Rumiyah magazine

)

Although the jury is out in Israel about how much of November’s wave of blazes was caused by terrorists, Islamic State in its latest English language magazine called on supporters to commit arson in the spirit of “devastating fires that ravaged Jewish settlements in Palestine.”

In the January 6 issue of ISIS’s monthly print publication, Rumiyah (meaning Rome, in a reference to an Islamic prophecy that foretells the downfall of Rome in the broader sense of infidels battling Muslims), an article titled, “Just Terror Tactics” cited the November 22-27 flames as an example of the effective use of fire for terrorism.

Through arson, operatives can “impose terror on an entire country,” the Sunni Islamist organization stressed.

“The whole world witnessed the devastating fires that ravaged Jewish settlements in Palestine, destroying around 700 Jewish homes,” the article said.

This is ISIS’s description, though the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) has questioned only about 10 suspects, with some still being interrogated, and additional suspects having been interrogated by police.

The few indictments that have been filed regarding November’s events have either been ambiguous about whether the motive was terrorism, or the fires in question were minor and not connected with the major conflagrations in Haifa or elsewhere.

Recognizing at the very least that some of the arsonists were not terrorists or ISIS followers, ISIS’s magazine said, “Irrespective of the motive, this deliberate act of destruction demonstrated the lethality [sic, as no one died in November’s fires] of such an effortless operation.

True, but the headline is entirely misleading, there is not one quote or name from a law enforcement or Homeland Security official, just pot growers themselves, so I can't post it as legitimate news.

I suspected arson as soon as I saw the separate multiple locations starting at nearly the same time. And I suspected M’s or OTM’s or M’s

I suspect arson as well, but that would be my headline:

Navy Patriot suspects arson due to the separate multiple locations starting at nearly the same time.

I am amazed that Gateway Pundit is even allowed to be posted on Free Republic.

Click Bait is a kind description of them.

Fake News Hoaxers is more apt.

I have often thought this was one of the cheapest ways for terrorists to get the maximum destruction with the least amount of effort and risk.

Possible. I more suspect heavily loaded (hot) and sagging power lines in poorly tree-trimmed areas whipping in the high winds, touching and arcing on trees. Iirc, PG&E cut trimming budget, and some localities sued them to stop trimming for aesthetics.

Maybe this will encourage liberal potheads in California and elsewhere to rethink their commitment to open borders with Mexico. Mexico and Central America have a deeply entrenched gang culture, and these are the sorts people who come pouring across our border.

Slightly off topic...

A huge percentage of the most destructive wild fires in North America and Europe are caused by humans - by accident, or by arson.

As to the Mexican Cartel, I have my doubts.

If it really is arson, there is an entire menu of possible suspects...

A disgruntled vineyard employee; a disgruntled business partner, wine or marijuana; criminal intent, i.e. insurance claim; a mentally ill arsonist; local American marijuana competitors; and many more...

That's why I posted with the caveats, I wanted an intelligent discussion on the possibility of arson.

I find it extremely interesting that there has been virtually no mention of arson by fire, law enforcement or Homeland Security officials, and the multiple starting points and timing of those starts.

I won’t believe it until I see it from official sources. Folks from out of state remember what we’re dealing with here are grass fires, not forest fires. Record rainfall = record amounts of fuel. Per usual, no rain since June. Typically no high winds in the summer. But we do get them this time of year, as the weathers getting ready to change. I find it completely plausible that most if not all these were started when 60
Mph winds took down power lines.

When I go there, I see an on-point link to "GotNews" - which, however, looks like donation-bait horseradish.

"Got News" is sensationalist click bait, it turns out that "officials" are officials of the local pot growers cooperative, not government officials let alone law enforcement.

It's as bad as "overheard at the local bar" ...
