Friday the 13th originates from when Philip the Fair, king of France raided all the Templar sites looking for their gold and other riches. He took their lands and torchered the crap out of them. The Templar leader cursed the king when he was burnt at the stake. The king died within the year. I believe that many of the Templars went to Switzerland with much of the gold which now makes up the basis for the Swiss banking system. The Templars were the first international bankers of a sort.

There may be a town in Norway called "Hell", but I'm pretty sure the photo is of one of the town signs for Hell, Michigan.

Not that I've been there personally and seen it frozen over, of course. I'm just going by what people tell me.

Of course there is such a thing as luck, good and bad. What I think you mean to say is one should neither rely on nor fear intractable fortune, but take individual initiative and act on reasonable expectations. What your father and Mike Rowe have been telling you all your life.

Stop buying lottery tickets, get off your ass, and get to work.

By the way, there is no such thing as luck.

The phrase "(*Slamming Head on Keyboard*)" begged expansive exposition.

There was little else I could do.

(But thanks for noticing.)
