Doesn’t everyone ride around with an AR15 and a pressure cooker in their trunk?

Here in Arizona we substitute a Sun Oven for the Pressure Cooker.

[[Should have had any firearms field dressed, locked in trunk, with any ammo locked separately away from firearms and in trunk.]]

Yup- because the 2’nd Amendment specifically states that the right to bear aRMs comes with the stipulation that you must lock them away in the trunk, and the ammo in another part of the vehicle-

This is how states chip away and erode our second amendment rights- In some states you are only allowed to have guns in the home IF you lock them up- in a cabinet, and have trigger locks on them AND lock your ammo away in another part of the house or some such nonsense- By the time the homeowner got everything out and unlocked and loaded during a home invasion- it would be too late

“Police said they don’t believe the pressure cooker was intended to be weaponized after finding food and grease remnants inside.”

So muzzies about to pack a pressure cooker with nails and ball bearings wouldn’t use a dirty pressure cooker. Nice diversionary tactic and the LEOs fell for it. It’s all good now. This is why “see something, say something” is such a load of crap. It doesn’t matter until the bodies pile up.

Heck, I just cooked a couple of Green Globe artichokes in a T-Fal pressure cooker a couple of nights ago. Dipped the leaves in olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Delicious!

“Neither the guns nor the pressure cooker were believed to have been intended for any acts of violence in the city” they said with a straight face.

Seems to me that they are trying to push for an aggravated weapons charge just to cover their collective ass. Cause if there was no crime, then taking them into custody was false arrest.

I was at a rural stoplight outside Lufkin TX when a van full of muslims pulled beside me. They screamed aliwho ackbar at me then ran the light......... and got tee-boned by a big rig. All of them died instantly.

Watching that shook me to the core. And immediately made me want to become a truck driver.

I’m from Wisconsin.

I go into the Peoples Republic of Illinois as little as possible, but when I do I leave my firearms at home. I don’t have an Illinois FOID card, and I don’t want to find out the hard/expensive way that I needed one.

Uh yeah, if they did not want to get charged with aggravated weapons charge, they should have followed IL state and Cook County guidelines.

BTW, am not commenting on whether or not the laws are Constitutional, I am stating what laws were broken in IL and likely more in Cook County.

There are laws that I don’t like and I don’t think are Constitutional, but I follow them.

In IL, you can CC with a CC permit. If they had a permit, they could have a loaded weapon in front seat...If they don’t, they should have followed local and state laws. Which I stated as locked, field stripped, with ammo locked separately in the trunk.

I believe the CC laws stem in part from a concern for law enforcement officer safety. They don’t want to walk up to a car and be shot while on what initially seems to be a routine traffic stop.

As far as firearms in your house, I don’t know that there are IL laws regarding keeping them locked up in a cabinet with a trigger lock, and ammo locked separately. I never said that...I was talking about in vehicle.

I will say, in your home, if you don’t keep them safely away from everyone except yourself; as weapon owner, you would be in a boatload of trouble if someone was injured with one of your firearms.

BTW, their timing to be in town for Chicago Marathon with a pressure cooker, and carrying an AR 15 and handgun in car was either really stupid or indicating they were up to no good...

We don’t know that he was carrying, only that a handgun was found. We don’t know where’s it was loaded, or where it was found. The rifle was in the trunk.

The only possible crime here was that he had the handgun loaded and immediately accessible, which doesn’t fit the admittedly vague description of it having been found after a search.

My understanding of Illinois law is that it must be either 1. not accessible, 2. disassembled, or 3. unloaded and cased.

Any one of the three makes you legal, you don’t have to do all of them.

Poorly written article (typical of SunTimes)...However:

Three people were taken into custody Saturday after a driver was pulled over as he left O’Hare International Airport and an assault-style rifle and handgun were found INSIDE HIS VEHICLE.

A pressure cooker was also found during the traffic stop, which happened shortly after 8 a.m. as the vehicle exited O’Hare Airport, according to Chicago Police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi.

Neither the guns nor the pressure cooker were believed to have been intended for any acts of violence in the city, which will see enhanced security measures during the Chicago Marathon on Sunday, police said.

The vehicle was stopped after the driver was seen speeding by officers as it left O’Hare Airport, police said. A handgun was initially found inside, but a more thorough search also revealed an AR-15 rifle and the pressure cooker IN THE VEHICLE’S TRUNK.

“The only possible crime here was that he had the handgun loaded and immediately accessible, which doesn’t fit the admittedly vague description of it having been found after a search.”

They initially found the handgun...

It is considered carrying if firearm is in the car—accessible to driver or passengers—hence the aggravated weapons charge. Said the handgun was in the car, no CC so that is enough of a problem...

When traveling and transporting firearms, gotta know the laws of the states you pare passing through...There are even apps that provide guidelines (constantly updated) for each state.
