A ragtag group of armed citizens drove the british out in 1814- The british didn’t count on armed citizenry beign so ferocious and tenacious:

In 1814 we took a little trip
Along with Colonel Jackson down the mighty Mississip.
We took a little bacon and we took a little beans
And we caught the bloody British in the town of New Orleans.

[Chorus:]
We fired our guns and the British kept a’comin.
There wasn’t nigh as many as there was a while ago.
We fired once more and they began to runnin’ on
Down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico.

We looked down the river and we see’d the British come.
And there must have been a hundred of’em beatin’ on the drum.
They stepped so high and they made the bugles ring.
We stood by our cotton bales and didn’t say a thing.

[Chorus]

Old Hickory said we could take ‘em by surprise
If we didn’t fire our muskets ‘til we looked ‘em in the eye
We held our fire ‘til we see’d their faces well.
Then we opened up with squirrel guns and really gave ‘em ... well

[Chorus]

Yeah, they ran through the briars and they ran through the brambles
And they ran through the bushes where a rabbit couldn’t go.
They ran so fast that the hounds couldn’t catch ‘em
Down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico.**

We fired our cannon ‘til the barrel melted down.
So we grabbed an alligator and we fought another round.
We filled his head with cannon balls, and powdered his behind
And when we touched the powder off, the gator lost his mind.

[Chorus]

Yeah, they ran through the briars and they ran through the brambles
And they ran through the bushes where a rabbit couldn’t go.
They ran so fast that the hounds couldn’t catch ‘em
Down the Mississippi to the Gulf of Mexico.**

“A well-regulated militia is completely consistent with having military-style arms put under lock-and-key in a regulated environment,” he said.

He's wrong, of course. For the militia to be properly functioning, the people must have their militia weapons readily accessible to them at home, not locked away in some remote depository somewhere.

it doesn't make sense that there are devices that are legal that alter the performance of a legal gun to make it more deadly.

It's the person, not the tool.

That approach is a slippery slope.

What would be the government limit on banning certain guns or devices to make guns less deadly?

Places like New York already have foolish "feel good" bans on certain capacity magazines.

Will we end up being limited to single shot '22 rifles because they are less deadly? m

Easy for these fops to sound brave when they know “molon labe” won’t mean they have to be on the front lines. Any pol who pushes for this kind of confiscation should be required to be first through the door on every raid.

“Those who point to Australia as a model, have their heads up their a$$es. Australia is a country of 24 million people most of whom live in the narrowly defined areas along portions of it’s coastline.”

Ask them how Australia’s crime rate compares to Switzerland.
