Does anyone question why we have Special Forces in any of those countries?

It would be nice if every US Soldier on a mission such of this would have drone coverage. I know it expensive, they have to work on the cost.

Are we still looking for those virgins that Procol Harum stole a few years ago?

You might get some flak over asking that question, but it is a fair question to ask. Are we to become like the British Empire, an empire that found reasons to be everywhere, all of the time?

First question for all of us is what strategic interests does the USA have in either of these countries. Why isn;t the UN doing this.

They often do; we’ve had a drone base in Mali for several years. And whenever a drone is up, the feed is being monitored by a minimum of 6-8 intel specialists at a DCGS site. In some cases, the intel crew has direct comms with the troops on the ground.

Thank you! Where else are we intimately involved in the internal struggles of less than democratic Third World Crap holes!

Even if these were the only 3 Special Forces in Niger, seriously unlikely. It would constitute hundreds of thousands, if not millions, in military expenditures. All on a country that is just simply of no importance to almost anyone, including the people of Niger who are mostly tribalists.

It has dozens of tribes and languages and has no measurable economic output and few prospects to get any. It is barely a country. It is more a loose conglomeration of warring tribes who hate each other.

When do we start putting America First?!

The British had an economic interest in the colonies they managed and they did it with a very light footprint. Believe it or not.

We are like the total opposite of an empire. We find the most awful places with no possible economic benefit to anyone and expend money, resources and the lives of our soldiers on them FOR NOTHING!

We have to be the dumbest power in the history of the World!

“No, you check them there or you bury bodies here.”

That’s a bunch of garbage that’s spewed by the neocon establishment to manipulate Americans into getting involved in pointless wars that don’t serve our interest. We don’t have to fight them over there, or over here, as long as we stop allowing them into our country. How many Islamic terrorist attacks were carried out by people who gained illegal entry into our country? If we would secure our borders and stop allowing legal entry from these type of countries, terrorist would have a very hard time attacking us over here.

USAFRICOM, the command without a country:

“U.S. Africa Command has approximately 2,000 assigned personnel, including military, U.S. federal civilian employees, and U.S. contractor employees. About 1,500 work at the command’s headquarters in Stuttgart, Germany. Others are assigned to AFRICOM units at MacDill Air Force Base, Florida, and RAF Molesworth, United Kingdom.”

The political maneuvering for siting the HQ tells all anyone needs to know. Even the “experts” admitted defeat before even starting.
