Oh, yeah! We had some like that when we lived in GA. Icky to have to wash those things. I’m sure they’ll need it when that stuff is harvested on top of the cat hair. LOL!
There’s little dust in the house from the harvesting so that isn’t a problem for the filters.
We’re in pretty good shape as long as we stay inside. It’s if we have to step outside that our sinuses bang for a while. There was a breeze during the day but it died right around sunset, and the guys were in the fields well after dark. The dust they kicked up is just hanging now. blech!
They’ll be next door in Hubby’s cousin’s field tomorrow so we get to go through it all over again. After that, it’ll be dusty but not right on top of us. Still plenty of fields in the area to be harvested.
If it wasn’t so nasty right now, I’d step out for a bit to listen for the owls screeching as they fly over the fields. All the lil critters that have been living amongst the corn are exposed now and it’s a buffet for the owls.
I wish you could watch for the owls, too! I hope none of them got caught up in the corn harvester!
Gosh, just reading about it makes my eyes want to water. It was this time last year that we were in Missori’s corn harvest season...Ugh!
Nope, no owls would get caught in the combine. They live in the woods, not the corn fields.
It isn’t easy to see them when they fly around. I can tell where they are by their occasional screeches. I guess they do that to spook the critters so they’ll bolt and can be seen and snatched up.
The moon’s bright enough I should be able to spot them now but I’m darned if I’m going out there tonight.
Sure can tell the corn’s gone. The trains are really loud tonight as they go by. *sigh*
Ah, man! I forgot about the trains! It’ll take a while to get used to that again! I love the sound of trains, but not when I’m trying to sleep. :)
Amen.
The GWOT has many fronts.
It appears another has opened in Niger.
They’re fine if they’re in the distance but the tracks are only about .2 a mile from the house. And of course, there are the horns blowing at the road crossing.
Oh well. It’s been part of life for several years now and we’re used to it. It was just nice with all that corn buffering the sound a bit.
((HUGS))Good morning, Kathy. How's it going?
Buffering would sure help since they’re that close. I can hear the ones here and the tracks are about 3 miles away. The city has told them no horns in town, but they make up for it before they reach the city limits.
Guess I’d better go. I’ve been staying up later than usual, and by the time I toss and turn my usual quota it’s after 3am. Then I’m useless till nearly noon. LOL!
See ya tomorrow night? Hope your weather is cooler and hope they get all that corn in soon so you can actually breathe “real” air. :)
No horns in town? Must be nice. They blow at EVERY crossing here, in town or not, day and night. Even without the horns, we hear the rumble of the engines and the cars as they go by. Some loads are heavy enough to shake the ground here at the house.
We’ll be fairly warm here the next few days ..... mid to upper 80s. But the humidity is low enough it isn’t too bad. As long as they’re close by harvesting, I’m not going outside unless absolutely necessary so it won’t matter. Poor Churchill isn’t happy about missing his daily outing but he’s going to have to wait.
Hope you manage to get to sleep quicker tonight. :-)
See ya tomorrow night.
