Read post #54.

It would be easy to do. Place the boxes of ammo in suitcase or food bags and place them on the cart. Same with the guns which are in a golf case or convention set-up long case. Dump some groceries in with the mix.

People do it all day long in Vegas- conventioneers, sports teams, golfers, etc.

The golf bag(s) go up fully loaded and come down empty each day. Rinse, repeat. He could have done it with 2-3 luggage cart trips. As long as he’s the one doing the lifting, no one bats an eye.

He would not have raised anybody’s attention, carrying his own stuff and not bothering anyone in the process.

General question for any FReeper who has stayed there (Sorry - RB...your post just got me curious)...

Is Mandalay a valet only parking facility or can you self park in a garage and take elevators straight upstairs to rooms?

My experience with Vegas casinos is that all of them have extensive "Self Park" facilities. In addition to hotel guests, they also want to attract gamblers so they ensure that there is plenty of spaces available for pa. It is the only big city I've been in where there is absolutely no problem finding a parking space and where parking is FREE.

Of course, if you desire, you can park your car right in front of any casino/hotel and workers there will be more than happy to valet-park your car (and they will be holding their hands out for a nice tip). But most of us regular people are fine self-parking ourselves in the vast parking garages out back, all well-lit with plenty of signs pointing to the casino entrances. They practically suck you right in.

And as others point out, if you have a room there, you can grab a luggage dolly, pile it up high and take it right into the banks of elevators. Valets may walk up to you and offer to help but otherwise nobody bats an eye.

He was senior partner in a Texas real estate deal five years ago that netted $12 million. He still five years later had no shortage of money.

“I am thinking, he was thinking... I win, I go home. I lose, I make them pay.”

Yeah, and he’s planning on hauling all that gear and ammo back out of the hotel if he wins?

It was a one-way plan, IMO.

Sweet - thanks. I figured. I lived near casinos for some time, but no idea what Vegas is like.

“As long as he’s the one doing the lifting, no one bats an eye.”

I agree with your methodology its very doable but I don't believe he acted alone. He had no military experience, wasn't a “gun guy” if you want to believe his brother, no discernible connections to radical ideology, and a retired accountant with no record. A perfect “cut out”.

The casino videos will tell the tale but I suspect we will never see them ie: the video system will have a “glitch” and been down in the area he had a room.

Maybe he had some terminal disease.

Hates conservatives, wants to go out with a bang.

Had an antifa or isis type ‘encourager’ that helped him.

They could have begun the initial carnage together and then he split.

Only those able to review the security footage would know, unless footage the lens was blocked.

It’s possible. Another possibility would have been if his accomplice simply helped him load the luggage cart curbside and Paddock personally wheeled it into his room and unloaded it at his leisure.

He could have learned to shoot and practiced out in the desert.
