NFL anthem controversy: Does the left ever want to win elections again?
Fox News ^ | 9/26/2017 | Stephen L. Miller

Posted on 09/26/2017 1:41:03 PM PDT by RightGeek

For all of Donald Trump’s often baffling social commentary, he could not have asked for better opponents in an ongoing culture war that has the political left crying foul. On everything from statues, to sports protests, the left seems eager to somehow try to out-do Trump’s bombastic absurdity.

[SNIP]

The kneel down gesture was always puzzling to me, as the national anthem isn’t played at sporting events to honor police officers. It’s in large part to honor men and women serving in the nation’s armed forces (more on that in a minute) which give us the freedom to gather in stadiums or around our televisions every Sunday and scream at grown men chasing each other with a ball.

[SNIP]

My question to the Democrats (and media) is simple: What voters in that big chunk of the country turned red do you plan to win back on a platform of kneeling for the national anthem, revoking due process, removing monuments of our founders, sympathizing with jihad, glorifying property-destroying (and journalist-punching) thugs or backing Kim Jong Un in a nuclear showdown? The more the left has ramped up its cultural war, the more their governing power has diminished. Who cares if the Affordable Care Act wiped them from the electoral map, as long as Jimmy Kimmel gets his sick burns in.

Donald Trump’s election should have been a giant wake up call to both the media and the left that the causes they care about and blast out with their bylines are not the issues Americans care about. They may view Donald Trump’s twitter commentary as beneath the office of the presidency, but they can forgive a lot when the other party is demanding they bend the knee.

I seem to remember that the NFL enjoys some sort of tax exempt treatment and an exemption from anti trust laws. Well good bye to that.

Trump ran for President because he was absolutely terrified of what was happening to this nation.

The ever stronger Marxist influence and contempt for our history and Constituion terirified him. Not for himself, Trump has the such wealth he could retire and live comfortably with his loving family. No, he was geneuintely fearful what kind of country Barron and his grandkids would be living in a couple decades from now.

I believe he ran with the clear idea - destroy the Dummycrat party and Marxism in this nation for ever.

His stunning grasp of strategy has seen President Trump lay the perfect trap for the radical leftists; respect for the Anthem and the flag or not.

The battle now is between Trumpism and Marxism. The former is patriotic, respectful and believes strongly in freedom and the ethos which made us great. The latter would see us become the Stalinist hell hole Obama had us halfway towards

Couldn’t agree more.

It upsets the Left something fierce to hear of men actually fighting tooth and nail to create and preserve this nation.

The left has pretty much given up ever winning elections again..that is not their goal, their goal is to destroy bit by bit..first it was getting rid of Confederate Statues, then it was getting rid of God in schools..now next on their agenda, getting rid of the National Anthem, permantely

The fact that Direct TV is actually giving NFL refunds *after* the season has started to fans that mention the protest—that along with all the burning, etc., has got to be getting some attention.

Cutting to the crux of the issue:

The NFL took in about $13 Billion in the 2016 year.

Why would any business of any size needlessly allow any condition to develop or take any overt action that has the potential to turn off,
antagonize, P.O., offend or drive away millions and millions of people comprising its customer base?

Yet it looks like much (most?) of the NFL management has contracted the same brain disease affecting much of the music and movie industries.

Does NFL management honestly believe that hard working, patriotic people are going to have respect for, and take moral guidance instructions
from these semi-literate, overpaid, infantile racists who are paid millions of dollars for playing a game?

It is up to all of us who love our Constitution, our anthem, our flag, and our country, to take a stand and push back against all those who are out to destroy this country.

My father served in WWII, served during the Korean War, and my husband was a pilot in Vietnam. All the human debris kneeling and those enabling them dishonor my father, my husband, me, and my children and grandchildren who have to grow up in this Twilight Zone of Liberal Insanity.

IMO, these people are traitors and don’t deserve to be spit on if they were on fire.

Trump chose this fight. [I.e.: he engaged after the kneelers started disrespecting the US.] The thing to remember is that Trump wins the fights he chooses. That’s his track record.

Public law 105-225 signed into law August 12, 1998.
Title 36 US Code 301 states:

and maintain that position until the last note;
(b) members of the Armed Forces and veterans who are present but not in uniform may
render the military salute in the manner provided for individuals in uniform; and
(c) all other persons present should face the flag and stand at attention with their right
hand over the heart, and men not in uniform, if applicable, should remove their headdress
with their right hand and hold it at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart; and

Wouldn’t it be nice if the nfl front office had to waste their time reading tens of thousands of applications ?

Any bets on how and when this cadet’s military career will end?? Or, should I say “former cadet” when his superiors deal with his defiance? I doubt that General Mattis will tolerate this. Anyone have comments?

At the end of the day, what the NFL players fail to realize is what they do for a living is inconsequential.

People can turn off the tv and stay home from the game and their lives will not be substantially diminished.

They need fans more than fans need them.

And the NFL is not football. The NFL may cease to exist but the sport of football will live on with another organization.

The NFL must be destroyed to save football.
